And everyone knows the Oilers only hire past players.

Gretzky, Coffey, Fuhr and Comrie to coach them in 2013

I am sure if myself cause I do my research. You'd think ESPN could at least get whether a player shoots L or R correct. Fail.

Yo man, when you talk down to everyone you gotta expect the backlash when you make an error. Normally no one would give a poop around here but you kinda brought it on yourself.....

Weird that you mention Marchand for the MVP but not Bergeron.

I'm not sure Philly has "too many" defencemen. There are 8 roster players under contract next season, one of which is Pronger, another is Timonen who is in the final year of his contract. I could see the Flyers trying to move Timonen. Maybe they have guys in the AHL that are ready to make the jump, I have no idea really.
- 1970vintage

They also have Gustafsson who's RFA and would be adding Edler. They might try and trade Timonen, but just seems if they're already trading with Vancouver (this is all predicated by an Edler deal of course) it would be natural to package up a D-man too. Will be hard for Gillis to get a capable one anywhere else.

Hey, I can take it. I made the error based on crap info.

When it comes to talking down to people. There's only so many times someone can get slammed about making a comment based on fact (salary cap info for example) before the frustration level boils over. Also, there are a lot of people on here who are quick to insult. Generally I try to be as cordial as possible, but once it's thrown at me I tend to throw it back.

Also, I tried to be much more cordial today!

I think you are doing better......

*pat on the back*

Having said that, I really don't think that the Flyers have to include a d-man at all. From what I have heard, the Canucks have every intention on giving Ballard a fair shake now that AV is gone...

As a Canucks fan I recommend cheering for Boston to destroy Chicago. Hopefully that would at least force some people to give the 2011 Canucks team a little more credit.

For sure. I never said they had to, just that it would make sense if they did want to get rid of Ballard still. Heard the same thing as you though, they feel Ballard still has potential and was ruined by AV.

My guess is management wanted to fire AV last year but didn't have a replacement they liked enough available (hence why he wasn't at the year end press conference). Also, the lockout made it easier to just stand pat on coaching.

Vancouver fans expect their GM's to deliver a cup?

Hardly. They've never delivered a cup yet Vancouver fans always promote whomever the current GM is.

Hense why I would like to see Brett Connelly here over Brock Nelson I have had the pleasure of seeing this kid play a ton and think he needs a shot that Tampa haven't given him. Sorry Micheal
- thundachunk

Brett Connolly would be great in Vancouver. I don't know that he hasn't been given a shot. He wasn't ready for the NHL when they gave him his shot, so Yzerman put him in the AHL to develop. That's not unlike a lot of prospects. Considering the injuries he went through towards the end of his junior career, I wasn't really all that surprised. He'll be given every opportunity next season with Jon Cooper at the helm.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. I expect the GM of the Canucks to do whatever it takes to ice a team capable of winning a cup, and to do it year after year. If you don't expect the same from your team I feel sorry for you.

Papers are reporting that Krueger was fired to make way for Eakins and it is basically a done deal.

Tampa's a whole other animal, sports-wise. As an example, they have a Stanley Cup Champions sign.

They stand behind their sports figures until they're only known for their collapsing (Bucs!). Their loyalty will latch onto the smallest positives and push it forward until they win - and they tend to remember how their team does versus everyone else. As much as it's about winning a cup, it's about enjoying a franchise.

We'd do well to channel some of that here and not let the media and bandwagon get away from the fact we've got a pretty good team on and off the ice.

I thought Cody was that guy too, but that type of player doesn't spend as much time whining about his ice time. He shows up on the ice and gives the coach no option but to play him more.
