Legit question: If Gonchar is somehow worth $5M on a new contract, is there really no team out there that would want Kaberlol?

I think the Isles are better off. Too much of a defensive liability. He does not bring enough offensive to make up for it. I'd rather see what a guy like Matt Donovan can do. Isles need to move on now from guys like Streit and Boyes.

Why would a team that missed the playoffs want to overpay a 39yr old?
Do they really think they can make a run at it next year?

Kaberlol is buyout bound. But damn, if Gonchar's worth $5M/yr, I hope MB unloads Markov on a team that doesn't know better this summer.

I know he will be but it just surprises me MB couldn't find a single trade partner if he took back an overpaid 4th liner and then save the buyout for when Bourque sucks again or DD puts up 40 points next season

I could have lived with him for a year at most. Isles have some young dmen like Reinhart and Mayfield and Pedan on the way. Isles are at the stage they need to move forward with better young talent and better FA or trade options.

Streit is getting 6 million a year because of this.

True and trust me I would love for the Rangers to get Streit.

i think he could help the oilers and wouldn't be a terrible signing. and we're desperate for some help/depth.

4.5 million and he would still be an Islander. Were looking at 6 million with him. Hes worth no more than 4.5 though...

Gonchar's gonna suck in Dallas, but at least he'll look nice in those new jerseys they got!
