Exactly, and that overpayment by one GM screws up things for the rest of the GM's trying to fill needs on defense...

When's the next lockout? I just know all the problems will be fixed.

I wish they would lose the cap floor...If teams can make it by spending less, good for them...If not, they can move to Quebec...

I didn't say better did I? we were talking contract dollars, if you think history isn't taken into account your kidding yourself.

But your main arguement is Dallas shouldn't upgrade on defense because he might not play all 82 games... so what are your thoughts on Lupul?

- Jay Uller

The kind of history shows that he likely won't play the full season?

Raask, Berglund, Shattenkirk, Pietanglo, Alzner, Johansson, Kadri, McDonagh, Stephan (lead NYR, 21st in NHL), Henrique, Gagner, Paajarvi, Wheeler, Bogosian, Leddy, Hodgson

I feel like the Flyers are acutally going to sit tight and let their young players improve. I think that their UFA signings will be determined by what happens in the draft. But for next year, I feel like unless someone is availible that they want, I think they are going to move forward with who they have. I'm predicting small moves from Philly this year. I think it was the reaching for the stars too much last off season that messed with their team.

When Crosby was injured, Penguins were still winning games... When Malking was injured, Penguins were still winning game... When Letang was injured, Penguins couldn't win. 33gp, 38pts this year and 16pts in 15gp in the playoffs. He was the Captain of Gold medal winning team in WJC and had 6pts in 6gp. All thanks to Secondary Assist and from Crosby and Malkin. lol

I'd be happy if they could somehow upgrade the defense...I'd still like to see them buyout Bryz, but doubt that it will happen...

st. louis is in trouble. they'll match Pietrangelo but if a team offers shattenkirk 5M, he's gone. Jake Allen is also an RFA. If I'm a team needing a goalie, like Edmonton, Toronto, Colorado, Philly, etc., send him an offer sheet or threaten them with one unless they trade you Elliott. Stewart could also be a target for a team.

are you serious. mason is not a #1 goalie and probably not even an NHL goalie. I know that qualifies him to be in philly but don't get too silly.

Why would the Leafs do that? The Maple Leafs ways is to trade two 1sts and a 2nd

Nah, he found his game in Philly and will lead the Flyers to a place the Canucks only dream about...

A team that signs Streit better have a great defensive dman as a partner for him. I'll be happy with any draft pick the Isles get for his rights.
- ses111

Garth's history of getting something for players on the way out the door isn't that great. Don't hold your breath....tho it is better than his ability to trade players for players, which is practically non-existent.

Am sure Ek makes his $$$ on all the ads on the site. Anything we fork over for the "Rumor Chart" is gravy in his pockets.....which I hope makes a mess!

I hate the cap floor. As an Isles fan I now all about the cap floor. Hopefully with the move to Brooklyn it will be a distant memory.

I hate when people chirp the GMs for giving out contracts. Do you think Gonchar's agent didn't ask for $10 million? The first thing out of his mouth was probably 'He's 39 and wants to win a cup so unless you overpay for him, he won't sign'.

They love who ever is the biggest FA of the year. This year Streit is certainly one of them. Next year it will be Malkin.
- mighty13duck

i think your more of a ranger hater than an islander fan. every chance you get you post something about the rangers getting the FA of the year. like literally EVERY SINGLE CHANCE even when it's a ludicrous FA that makes no sense.

Right, that's when Nill says "thanks, but no thanks" and moves on to plan B...But seeing as how the Stars can add 12 more players @ 10m per and still have cap room, is why they can make these stupid offers...

Or he could say 'We have the cap space, he fills a need, and we traded an asset to get his rights'.

I believe the Oilers will announce Ralph Krueger is out as head coach, but they may not announce his replacement for a few days.

Apparently Wikipedia thinks so as under 'Head Coach' on the Oilers page is listed 'Vacant'.
