Lowe,Blah blah Lowe,blah, blah, Lowe
Lowe did an okay job as GM until after the run to the playoff's,where he tried to do a patch up job that didn't work, but as president he has done pretty well. All the Lowe haters need to relax, he has sweet (frank) all to do with Hockey decisions aside from lending an ear or ofeering some advice. It would make no difference if Scotty Bowman was president at this point. - Jeropotato
he hired Tambelini. how'd that work out? What, pray tell, did Tambo say in that interview that could possibly have impressed Lowe so much that he would hire the rookie GM that Vancouver passed over twice? Did he tell that he thinks trading is the wrong way to build a team and you should draft your entire roster? this is a guy who was literally terrified to do what NHL managers are paid to do. Lowe hired the pro scouting staff.
btw, they are about to buy out Horcoff. who signed him to a 6 year/32mil dollar contract again? what I'd do to have been a fly on the wall when Lowe meet with Katz for that meeting.
"uh, listen Darryl, it would be best for the team if we paid our captain 5 million to just go away"
"but you said he was so valuable we had to sign him for whatever his agent asked for"
"well, uh, well uh, well uuuuh...... but I have 6 cups... man, we had some good times back in the day, eh"

Don't know my German grandfather. He buggered off from rural Alberta before my dad was born in 1942. Call to the fatherland, perhaps? |

For what exactly? Its hard to get demoted once you were top dog... Unless your president and GM and cant find a suitable coach in the interim... - saskoil21
apparently Eakins' PP has struggled historically. That was krueger's strong point |

Yeah,sh!tty. I'm a bit desensitized about it myself after all these years, but I get ya. Certainly not endorsing the behavior.Just the way the convo evolved I guess. Still, with all the "uncalled for" nonsense on a Cloutier thread I'm a tad suprised I got called out for it. - Jeropotato
All good bro, sometimes I forget how sidetracked RC threads can get. I mean how many people read Clouts blog purely for the discussion that will ensue in the thread? |

Yeah, yeah, I'm not going to defend the dumb sh!t that comes out of his mouth. Tambo was a poor hire, for sure, but he has done some good things as far as setting up a farm team, the purchase of a WHL team and a re-vamp of the amateur scout department. Those are the job of the president, and he's doing okay. |

Eakins did not have Hall, Ebs, Nuge, Yaks and Schultz at his disposal... and where exactly did PP get us when we were poop on 5vs5? |

I think they have the talent to maintain a good PP.But if Eakins is worth his salt and knows he is a poopty PP coach, he'll hire an assistant that knows what the (frank) he's doing. |

Tambellini was brought in to be a fall guy. Open your eyes. He didn't have a chance here. Every decision had to be cleared with the management team in place. Lowe wouldve bumped MacT ahead when he got his bump but they needed a fall guy to make sure there was no boys club blood spilled as we traded any chance of winning for 3 years of top draft picks. Now MacT steps in as a hero. Its incredibly poopty from a fans prospective but its what we did and why we have such a bright future. The Pittsburgh/ Chicago way |

Also, as I've stated before, he did a pretty good job as GM until Pronger pulled the pin. He might have gave up too much in picks at the deadline that year but that was a pretty (frank)ing good hockey team. They might have finished in 8th, but they didnt have a goalie for 3/4th of the season. He (frank)ed up thinking he could patch the team up after that and it snowballed from there. People who say he is/was always a poopty GM forget who put that team together I guess. |

Yeah,it's cut throat, but really, the Tambo era had to happen. And I don't really believe there were any other intentions from the start other than a full rebuild. It's a tough call to make, going in that direction, but at least Lowe had it done. |

i don't know. i think Lowe expected the team to be further along the rebuild by this point in time. so, it follows that he expected Tambi to perform better then he did. IOW, the nonperformance of last summer and the past trade deadline were not planned. we will never know how much autonomy, or lack thereof, Tambi had. I think he had the freedom to make more deals then he did. and, obviously, he completely struck out on the deals he made. but the discussion wasn't about Tambi's performance, it was about Lowe's poor judgement in hiring him. he was a dud, and Lowe hired him. yet Lowe remains and always will because he partied with Katz in the 80s.

I just don't see Lowe as the problem at this point. He isn't the solution, he's just an exec. Not sure if someone else in his role would improve much. If Mac T builds a winner, does that make Lose a genius for hiring him? |

So why is it as an organization we've talked about management as a group and not an individual as of late? Things weren't exactly in Tambellini's power in his tenure as GM. He was brought in to accept losing. Look at how the boys club is seemingly unscathed. |
