Eakins did not have Hall, Ebs, Nuge, Yaks and Schultz at his disposal... and where exactly did PP get us when we were poop on 5vs5? - saskoil21
Krueger stays and helps PP, Eakins helps 5on5 |

Interesting that we offered Bowness an associate job. He takes that job, Kreuger is still here. |

What does Dan Bylsma have in common with a hockey puck? They're both solidly behind Marc-Andre Fleury |

I just don't see Lowe as the problem at this point. He isn't the solution, he's just an exec. Not sure if someone else in his role would improve much. If Mac T builds a winner, does that make Lose a genius for hiring him? - Jeropotato
yes. one could argue that hiring MacT a year in advance, a packup plan in effect, was somewhat clever. Clearly, he was having the same doubt's about Tambi as we were.

So why is it as an organization we've talked about management as a group and not an individual as of late? Things weren't exactly in Tambellini's power in his tenure as GM. He was brought in to accept losing. Look at how the boys club is seemingly unscathed. - Ihatebrianburke
certainly panders to the 'ol boys club' suspicions. no one knows how much freedom Tambi had or didn't have. only our suspicions. IMO, he had enough freedom to do a better job than he did. all those nondeals are on his head. now, it has been said that he wanted to draft Murray and not Yak, but he was in the minority. this might be disturbing if not for the fact that taking Yak was the right thing to do. i think it points to the notion that Tambi wanted to draft the entire roster and had no confidence in swinging deals to build the team.

In all fairness, the last time you mentioned Couturier to the Oilers you relegated everyone on the Oilers "untouchable" and offered back a joke of a D-man prospect. That's why HB-Nation went nuts.
The 1st round pick and maybe a 2nd round / "developmental" prospect seems about fair.
As a flyers fan "homer" what I would like is a 1st, 2nd, and conditional 2014 pick (if Couturier has X points / Edmonton makes playoffs). Realistically, that wont happen. I still think Couturier is an unproven prospect, I'd almost rather give you Schenn for the 1st
Couturier was taken 8th over all, so really yours trading that pick for this pick slot. In terms of value, Couturier has shown he can play as a viable 3rd line defensive shut down Center as well as a good PK guy, so some asset needs to come back for the "known" value. |

I didn't like Kreugers coaching. Good move by Mac T took lotsa balls ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif) With Horcs leaving does that mean Gags is staying? |

Wow Vancouver fans are such poor losers. Anyone see Esplen's last pile of garbage? The Oilers didn't beat us to get Eakins. We didn't want him. Gillis was just messing with Nonis. That guy is the worst writer on here. And then when anyone says anything intelligent Micah comes running in crying and bans them. Can't just admit we beat them to it. |

Yah because you are gonna trade a 3rd line C for a #1 D-man...give your head a shake. |

More than likely. But with MacT in charge, you never know what he's gonna do next. Kinda unpredictable as to who he will move, other than the obvious dead weight. |

I'd be prepared to trade our 1st, a 2nd in 2014 and any defense prospect of your choice except Klefbom. I'd be willing to offer the same thing for Schenn. |

Well exactly. Schenn wouldn't be a bad either. He hits and can put points up. But I don't believe that he'll be as good as Couturier. And for that reason, Couturier would be the ideal move in this situation. |

Ya those Schenn boys aren't elite players but they hit everything that moves. Something this team doesn't have. I hope we resign Fistric. And some bottom 6 wingers that can bring energy and put up a couple points now and then. Jones was good but with his eye problem who knows if he'll ever be the same. Boston's 4th line is amazing. |

Exactly. I've been looking through our roster that would be remaining after we move out the obvious players and we have nothing. We need UFAs .. Like right now haha. |

Why would the oilers trade for couterier? They already have 4 top prospect forward, they have terrible D and an even worse goalie. Stay at 7th, you pick up Nurse or Zadorov or Ristolinian. Look at my mock draft to see who your team will take. http://www.glendalemock.com/1.html |

I woulda read it I felt like u understood the oilers better...
our 4 forwards are hardly 'prospects' anymore. while almost all our best 'prospects' are actually defencemen not forwards. and dubnyk is FAR from terrible. and we need to replace horcoff at 3c.

Putting aside that Dubnyk/Khabby as a pairing was actually pretty decent this year, the fact that you'd call our goaltending worse then our defense shows that you're not really paying attention.
How is the unit that allows 33 shots on goal a game BETTER than the tandem who had .921 and .923 save percentages? |
