interesting.
but still, it would be tough because the rangers lack size and power forwards right now that can play in the top 6 and kreider is exactly that. not to mention the emotional attachment we have with him no homo. |

They struggle offensively due to the system they play, not due to a lack of skill. Backes, Oshie, Perron, Tarasenko, Berglund, Sobotka, Stewart....there's way to much fire-power there, it's just being under-utilized. - mochoson
They are all powerforwards with not much skill. They need someone to get them the puck.
Gagner would instanstly be there most creative player. Once Schultz puts it together then they will be not only a tough team, but also skilled. Bostonish. |

Berglund also is X2 the defensive player gagner is. What Berglund lacks in offense to Gagner, it's futile compared to his defensive game.
Great Gagner will put up 50 points a season, he is also terrible in his own end. Berglund doesn't do that stupid poop giving the other team primo scoring oppurtunities.
Plus Berglund would strengthen up our PK.
You can also throw him on the PP where horcoff was to win draws and be a big body in front of the net. - Pilgor09
Berglund played softer minutes than Gags and had the second worst corsi on STL.
Also he won 46.3% of his draws. Horcoff goes out on the PP to win 'em. |

I'm not a numbers guy so I don't care much for that arguement.
Horcoff won them, then went directly to the front of the net and was semi-effective at that. It wasn;t like he won it and just changed. |

Del Zotto is a puck mover which Philly needs. Whitney is a total scrub that can't even skate let alone make a breakout pass anymore.
It would take a + from the rangers side if they want that deal I just don't think it's far off. - Pilgor09
Its not far off value wise, no. But I don't do it straight up. I don't do it unless their overpaying honestly, because we need a legit top pairing, jack of all trades defender. Del Zotto does not fall under that category.
I wouldn't by any means be upset if we got him, I'd be very upset if it was for Couterier straight up. |

why don't you guys move gagner to the wing, assuming you can find another 2C with better size? it lessens his defensive responsibility and you don't have to trade him just for the sake of trading him because you have another 2C. - rangerdanger94
I'm not really undervaluing him. He's not worth a #1 D-man at this time. And I'm not saying Petry is a #1 d-man... I'm saying given the Oilers strengths and weaknesses, that would be an idiotic trade for the Oilers to make. |

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's a good idea. I just don't think St. Louis gives you Berglund unless you over pay for him, because they have no reason to make the trade JUST for Gagner.
They could easily sign Mike Ribiero if they wanted a pure offensive, skill center and are going to have to spend more than 4 million to get him. |

Krueger's system depended on a 2 way C, Gagner isn't that, so at times he looked out of place. Don't mind the fact that he was 16th in C scoring this year, guys. |

CRAZY! Del Zotto+. A young puck mover with size who has proven he can play at both ends of the ice is worth way more than Couturier. He really hasn't played that well. Before anyone says " you obviously don't watch the Flyers" if I'm not watching the Oilers lose, you can bet I'm watching Philly. |

I don't disagree, it just means I'd rather keep Couterier and look for other options in FA or trade for a guy like Jamie McBain ( ![:P](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif) ) and hope he can be a reclamation project then give up Couterier.
As a Flyers fan, I will seriously flip poop if we trade Couterier for anything less than a legit defensemen. He is THAT good. It blows me away how poised he is and how smart he is in all 3 zones. Once he's more consistently offensively, it's going to be a nightmare for teams to match up against him and Giroux.
Throw in Schenn and Laughton, and were going to have one of the deepest center rotations in hockey (and in short order). Strong center depth wins championships, they shouldn't touch it unless it absolutely makes the team better for the long term. |

Yikes Macdonald was almost as bad as Horcoff the last 3 years.
Oshie I absolutely love, but he is much more of a chip and chase kind of guy, with the occasional skill move.
Taresenko will be that skill guy in a couple years.
For his offense. I know the system is defensive, but look at someone like Marian Gaborik when he was in Minny or any other defensive team with good offensive players. |

Your Gaborik example equates to what Tarasenko was doing earlier in the year, to me anyway. Plays within the system but has the confidence with the puck to do it himself....and of course the skill to be successful doing it. He makes himself an individual threat.
My point is is that guys like Perron and Stewart are also very good individually and have the skills to create a ton of offense, but just lack the confidence to do so consistently within Hitch's system. Tarasenko clearly has it, or did at least pre-concussion. |
