It still a hell of a core even when you subtract one of those guys. Someone has to go to address the D. Ideally I'd say Hartnell, but I dont think they'll be shopping him. - hereticpride
Very good young core but in order to move either I would want a stud back in return. Not sure there are many teams trading those types of defenseman. |

Dont forget too guys, if they draft a forward, like say Shinkaruk, Horvat or Domi that will greatly lessen the sting of losing one of the kids.
I like B Schenn a lot but being totally honest, if they trade him for a d man and draft Horvat I don't think I'll be missing him all that long. |

What's the point in keeping him one year? If he gets hurt your stuck with that contract. Why keep him for one more season as back up just to buy him out? The Flyers don't have the luxury in cap space to keep a $5M+ cap hit on the bench opening the door. - stveshdy
I agree. At this point, if he stays, even if he plays decent, people will ask why isn't he elite? The first weird thing he does (at least in the minds of the media), will be blown out of proportion. First losing streak, some innocuous comment gets twisted in to something else.
The guy will never get a fair shake in this town. He is at war with the media, there is a vocal portion of the fan base who will be on him no matter what he does led by the morons on the radio. It is going to be a public relations fiasco, which is just going to build on the current fiasco.
And then there is the play on the ice...the inconsistency. We need a different type of goalie to play behind this system. A guy who can handle the puck well for one. It was just not a good fit on too many different levels. Amnesty both now and use that 11 million in cap space to fill other holes.....

My worst nightmare would be buying out Bryz and having him playing for peanuts for either Pittsburgh or NJ. Pittsburgh has enough offense that Bryz merely has to be average to rack up the wins and NJ has the team defense to minimize his flaws. |

Yeah, I was impressed with the way Pittsburgh kept finding the back of the net against Boston... oh.. wait...

Can't be afraid of Bryz going elsewhere and playing well. The Flyers need to do what's best for there team. |

Then so be it, Bob is now in Columbus whom due to realignment Flyers will play more frequently. Obviously Columbus doesn't have the firepower Pitt does but Pitt also doesn't play particularly good D either. I honestly believe if Bryz is bought out his career will continue in the KHL. |

It's not that i'm looking for away to give up Gustaffsson because he's really taken some big steps this season but it's more of a who would you rather have. Would you guys be willing to move Read and Gus for Erik Johnson? |

sorry i must have missed the fact they were rotating goalies every other game cause of soft goals and inability to stop a beachball - 2Real
Luongo played 25 playoff games and Schneider played 5 that year. Before that lupngo played 60 games in the regular season. I'm not saying he was great but I think it amounts to jack in the playoffs. |

Bernier for read? Deal deal deal! Again this team isn't going anywhere for a few years Having two young goalies for next two years Is great. Let them battle it out. If one of them takes off you trade the other. In two years I'm sure you could get at least a read type value back for at least a decent back up goalie |

if bryz was the goalie for CHI, they never would have moved past DET. - isaiah520
You don't know that. Bryzgalov has proven in the past that he can play at a high level with a team that plays well defensively, in the past.

yandle?
http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/phi130609.html - isaiah520
I think people have this notion that Yandle isn't good because of the perceived cost. The guy is an all star caliber offensive defenseman, who is capable in his own end.
I remember people shredding the rumored Jeff Carter trade prior to it happening, too. |

My thing with it is there are a lot of other really tough hockey markets. A lot of them.
Bryzgalov has really helped make his whole situation into a circus. No other teams have the kind of off-ice BS. I know the media in Philly is crazy, but its gotten to the point where its as much of a joke as when the Flyers had 3 goaltenders playing in the playoffs. - flyer_nutter
There really is no circus. And to make it into that, and as something that no other team has, is really an over dramatization. The Flyers simply have to win, and all of the minor, really irrelevant stuff goes away. |

I like Yandle and Shattenkirk pretty equally. No doubt Phoenix needs some forward help. Plus, Yandle will be 27 and under control for 3 seasons at a very respectable cap hit for offensive d-man. |
