I was actually able to get through an Isles blog! Nice job. By the descriptions, I wouldn't mind Pulock or Zykov at all. Sounds like nearly everything's there for them but the skating, and while that might end up being the thing to hold them back from being effective in the NHL one day, I think Tavares and Martin are recent examples on the team that show skating can be significantly improved if you put enough work into it. But Morrissey and Hägg sound like the types of players Snow likes...intelligent puck movers that can hopefully hold their own defensively. |

Wow.....great blog Frenchie, had to make sure who wrote it 1st before I commented.
The possibilities for the Isles at 15 are just as good as being after the 5th pick..
Your player profiles are exactly what others have said about these kids, so it just seams like this draft has a lot of quality players, so in hind sight, Snow will pick the best player available.
And you need to write more for Islander country!!!!!
We are a better fan base.... |

Excuse me, but I clicked on the blog with the Islanders logo expecting to find recipes or the location of the restaurant for Matt Martin's most current public appearance. What is this "hockey" related bullsh!t I'm reading? |

Adam,
This was a very well written and thorough analysis of the Islanders draft situation. VERY well done! For us Isles fans, it is very nice to read a blog on HockeyBuzz that is not only chock full of good hockey info, but also uses English words with proper tense and has been spell-checked. A refreshing change on all fronts. Not to knock Dee, but her writing tends to be light on Hockey and long on opinions, with some poor tense and misspellings thrown in for good measure.
I will refer to this blog when it comes around to draft day as it will interesting to see how the Isles pick since they are "so low"..
I will look for other blogs you write on other teams as your writing is quite enjoyable with lots of Hockey stuff in it.

What would Ek do if you just started blogging regularly for a few teams? I mean GARTH already does it and seems to get away with it? |

I like the steps the team took to improve this season but I still say they need to become younger to get better. Tavares is becoming the vet leader but he needs young players to lead. Hopefully as they move closer to a top tier team that will attract a UFA like other teams did by getting a Hossa etc. Just give the fans an exciting young team and develop a young goalie which may be one prospect they can trade for ala the B's traded for RAsk. |

Probably not much, it would be a disservice to other bloggers though, so when I talk about other teams I try to keep it within the confines of the draft, prospects or gameday/postgame stuff. |

We need Darnell Nurse! With all the superstars in our conference we need this guy to help harmonic and Reinhardt. - 2raven2
If he's still available at #7 we could do a deal.

Swap first with Edmonton plus ullstrom and Joensuu. Draft nurse! Edmonton is bigger and younger. Islanders back end is also bigger and younger. I believe it a win win for both teams. |

Ullstrom and Joensuu are just spare parts that don't have any trade value. |

I disagree. I really do believe both players have 2-3 line potential. Don't forget both players have less than 50 games of nhl experience. |

Nelson + 15 for 7th - Viktory
What would be the point? Nelson is about ready to step into the lineup. Anyone the Isles draft at 7 would need time...perhaps two seasons if it's a defenseman...before contributing. There aren't really any glaring holes in the prospect system that would be immediately solved with some magic bullet player at 7. If Nelson and 15th overall are moved for anything, I think it would be for a d-man already contributing in the NHL. But most likely Nelson is in camp fighting for one of three open forward spots come Fall. |

What is this odd scripture of hockey speak on an Islanders blog? I was hoping to find out what else stunk about Brooklyn or if DiPietro's wife has gotten better at cooking...this is an outrage!

What's comical? You guys get the best asset in the trade in 7th overall. Nino doesn't have the value he should because he's demanded a trade - Ihatebrianburke
How is the 7th overall pick, who may or may not become an NHLer a few years from now, better than two of our organization's top three forward prospects that are ready to play in the NHL next season? If we didn't have a first round pick in this draft, then maybe there'd be some crazy payment to get the 7th pick...but that's a ridiculous price just to move from 15th to 7th.
Also, Nino isn't demanding a trade...your info is old. In his most recent quotes to European outlets at the Worlds and again to the Isles' website when he returned, he said he's spoken with management and is entirely focused on training this offseason and making the team out of camp. If he's still unhappy, or whatever, then fine, but he's not holding out or forcing the Isles' hand in any way. He doesn't have to be traded, and if the Isles did want to trade him...if his value is so low that it must be combined with two other first rounders in exchange for a first round pick two slots below when he was selected, then clearly the Isles are far better off keeping him and letting him play this season to increase that value. |
