Rundblad's stock is dropping by the day. If they could get him for a 3rd I would pull the trigger in a heartbeat. - NickTheKid87
How are we going to draft Jimmy Lodge if we trade that third round pick? Maybe next year's third. |

A. What's wrong with working at Wawa?
B. I am also firmly on the buyout Bryz bandwagon. Makes too much sense unfortunately.
C. All this talk about trading young good centers has me hoping they sign Striet. Even if it is for 3 yrs and 5 M. Then unload Mez if cap space is needed. Hate to write that as I wish him the best. I'm sure the team knows better then I what his chances of healthy play are.
D. No thank you Read for Bernier. Too much youth in goal for a low paid stud.
E. I know this is absurdly unlikely but here it is...Briere and our 3rd to NYI for Nino and the rights to negotiate early with Striet. - coffee junkie
1) Striet for 3yrs @ 5mil is just stupid. Striet is a good Dman, but then again someone had to be for NYI. he is not the answer to the flyers Team-Wide d-man problems. He is an older guy on the backside of a solid NHL career. He does not provide stability for this team.
2) Yandle is a guy who could possibly be the long term replacement for Kimmo, similar players similar style in that they arnt a #1 Franchise D-man, but they are the compliment to it, the support role who moves the puck, eats up min, and chips in points.
3) I think what ever team ends up with Bernier is going to overpay and realize he is not a #1 Goalie, I think he is good, but i think he is also like a Nitty type, someone who cant turn it over to be a without a doubt #1 goalie.
4) Yes you are right, your not getting Nino for Briere and a 3rd round pick, and rights to Streit. . .the GM's from both teams will get fired if that happens |

Who knows at this point? I feel like a 2nd and 3rd could net him or a 1st and a decent prospect. Large spectrum, IMO. - NickTheKid87
If we can snag him without using a first nor a young roster player, I'd be interested. Get Rundblad, draft a solid prospect at #11, and maybe look at a less pricey offensive addition to the blueline. |

If I am going strictly players I would go with the following
Clarke
Parent
Howe
Lindros
Clarke, Parent and Howe are no brainers. With Lindros and Barber I asked myself who is the better player. I do not think there is much of an argument. Lindros was a top three player in the league for close to a decade. Barber was never a top three player in the NHL. I love Billy B but the nod has to go to Lindros. |

Given the track record of our second round selections, using ours to get a prospect like Rundblad would be great value imo. |

What's the consensus on starting bid for him? - BulliesPhan87
In 2010 he was worth a 16th-overall pick.
In 2011 he was packaged w/ a 2nd for Turris.
Since then, he's continued to be dynamic offensively but still hasn't pieced his defensive game together. Tight-checking teams like the Sens, Blues and 'Yotes might not have the patience for that, but I could see him getting a shot w/ Lavi in a more creative system. |

He's struggled with his play in his own end. He's got a load of offensive ability and potential, but the issues as a defensive player make him a bit suspect. I'd be willing to take the risk, but I think that the cost may be more than I'd want to bear.
Overpaying for Yandle is one thing. Guy is a proven NHLer, who is adequate in his own end and who has been a consistent producer and is an all star level defenseman. Rundblad is still very much an uncertainty. |

Exactly. Rundblad might already be better at whoever they'll draft in the 2nd round also. Obviously, we don't know yet though. |

So was Barber. He left the game as the highest scoring Left Wing in the history of the NHL. You can't say that about Lindros at Centre. - mayorofangrytown
That's interesting but if you put his face on mt Rushmore half of flyer fans won't know who it is whether thats right or wrong. IMO its less stats and more impact on a fan base/ franchise |

Homer should explore all the options, Edler, Yandle and the ones we haven't heard yet. If he trades a #1 pick or a key young guy for Buff that would be extremely disappointing.
In the end the price will likely be too high for a top name.
The improved play of Gusty at the end of the season and at the worlds is the biggest reason to hope that they may show some patience and not go for an overpayment for a big name.
If Gusty could play 3rd pair minutes and be the 2nd PP point effectively then they could get through next year at least. There might be better options for replacing Kimmo the following summer. |

Barber is only a lock HOF because he played longer and won titles not because he was a better player. Look, both were great players and I would not protest if Billy Barber was on instead of Lindros.
I just think Lindros was the better player.

I'm still not keen on trading Couturier, which is where the Yandle discussion begins. There's some skepticism about his potential, but I think we need to keep him. Of course, I understand the 'need to give to get' logic, and I wouldn't consider any trade involving him bad. I just don't want to go that route, trade somebody else (other than Giroux, obvs).
If we can buy low on Rundblad, I'd be all for adding him to the prospect pool. |

Gotta question not including lindros. A large portion of the younger fan base identifies with him. Take off barber IMO. I wasnt around in the 70's but lindros at a time was the premier player in the sport - Just5
Barber for a decade was the one of the top two-way forwards in the NHL. Imagine Simon Gagne in his prime, except for a longer period of time by quite a few seasons, a half-notch better in most aspects of the game and with similar speed (before Barber's knees became a chronic problem).
Also, Barber has spent virtually his entire career, except for a few years in Tampa after the Flyers fired him as head coach, in the Flyers organization: Hall of Fame player, scout, NHL head and assistant coach, won a Jack Adams Award, AHL head coach of a Calder Cup winning team.
When you weight that longevity of contribution against Eric Lindros' brilliant but too-short (and controversy-laden) time in Philly, I will take Barber on the Mount Rushmore. But Lindros was the more dominant player when healthy; and that's in comparison to a Hockey Hall of Fame member who played with Clarke for most of his career. |

I think Letang looks to sign here in UFA, both to cash in on Snider money and to begin a revenge campaign against a Pittsburgh that no longer wants him. |

It's possible. I'd like to see the Flyers pick up an additional pick or two in the top 50. This Draft very well could be one that produces a lot of players who go on to lengthy NHL careers. Lodge has that potential.

not interested in yandle or buff (please God No), id be happier standing pat then giving our youth for either of them, the only dmen i would trade our youth for is weber, pietranglo or oel, thats it.
i like the idea of having bernier and mason duel it out for a starting job and actually earn and want it and not have it handed to them, not sure if matt read is an overpayment. |

No matter how you slice it, there's going to be movement on the D roster.
The question is whether Homer is proactive like he has been or if he can be patient this time and wait for a bargain to come along.
Maybe a guy like James Wisnewski gets bought out and we can grab him at a discount? or Keith Ballard.. |
