I realize the players sign the contract offered to them by management, and the teams should in no way, shape or form be able to get out of the contracts they agreed to honor, but something is seriously wrong with the way the CBO is structured in that there is NO incentive for a player to NOT take the buyout.

Perhaps if, after being bought out, a player cannot resign with another team for a year? After all, they are still being paid, so it's not like they are getting nothing on top of not being able to play.

I realize that's quite drastic, but there has to be some incentive to the player accepting a trade if one can be had. You already can't buy out injured players, so there's no getting rid of those albatrosses. Perhaps if the team looking to make the trade (Flyers) has to pay part of the salary on the remaining contract? Something...
