if the kids play well, locking them all up is going to take a good amount of money though. not saying its not possible, but it might be hard to retain the core and then go crazy in free agency - stayinthefnnet
that's not really in the cards anyway. but if they get started early (which they can do if they don't add a bunch of multi-year deals this offseason...kimmo and mesz will be coming off the books) they should be able to get those guys squared away before things get too crazy. factor in a bryz buyout, and they should have some flexibility |

if i were running the show the only thing i'd really be looking to add in free agency is a solid fourth line natural center. let the kids (like laughton and mcginn) take their swings at the other open spots in the lineup. if they do go for more of a "scoring" type player, i'd rather it be a low-risk small contract type of deal (i want them to have flexibility for next offseason). my interest only goes so far as bouchard falling into that category - FlyerMike18
I don't disagree with that philosophy, but when you shop in the bargain bin, you usually get what you pay for. I'd rather give Tye McGinn a shot then to sign a player like that. Especially if he is going to play on the 3rd line.

If and it's always a big if the Flyers look good on paper.
G/V/?
Schenn/Hartnell/Simmons
Couts/Read/Gagne
Laughton/Talbot/Rinaldo
** McGinn, Rosehill(a total waste of a signing)
Timmo/Coburn
Mez/Grossman
Gus/Schenn
** Gervais, Lauridsen |

Seems like a few of you guys despise him, I got a good kick out of reading flyer_nutter's response, reminds me of how some of us feel about AV(I don't think AV's that bad though but his time was up). |

Flyers are going to have more flexibility then many think. With the bonus cushion available, and LTIR, they can make some moves. And there is also the 10% tagging space kicker that starts on March 1. Which will make moves such as re-signing players in Season, easier.

i hear ya, i'd lean that way too. i'd just prefer bargain bin to throwing a sizable contract at a guy like clowe (just an example)
i really like mcginn, i hope to see him and laughton in the lineup this season |

Remember that Kimmo's retirement clears up 6 mil next offseason. If they can trade pronger to a team wanting to reach the floor (Maybe agree to pay all of his salary this year), buyout Briere and Bryz, and don't resign Mez, they'll have cleared up around $25 mil in cap space. After resigning Gus and some other young guys this offseason, as well as signing a cheap alternative to Bryz (Or trading for Bernier) we should have more than enough to resign G, BS, Coots, Read (Granting he's not in LA), and still have enough to go hard after the big fish UFA next offseason (Letang). I'm personally not as worried about cap as some people seem to be. |

thats true. i dont think it really needs to be in the cards to be successful though. still think moving one of the forwards for a defender would bring more balance (realize thats a dead horse) but i dont think bringing in forward X will make as big a difference as the continual growth of the guys you already have |

Yeah season 1. I read the first four books tho. It's kind of funny knowing what's gonna happen. Like when every character says we'll talk when I get back...that conversation ain't happening.
But the acting is incredible so I'm hooked. |

yeah. regardless of where he plays, tanger is going to get (frank)ing paid. i dont think the flyers are going to be devastated by the cap by any means. just that they might not necessarily have the money to go all in on someone like teams did this offseason. that cap space is going to be used to keep the current core together, who are probably going to get pretty decent raises if there play goes up as i expect it will. that simmonds deal is going to be gold in 2 years time |

I'm just busting your stones. IMO, I prefer a coach that is as violent as the sea when necessary, and calm when is needed. Stevens was about as exciting as cup of dirt. He's a great players coach though, great with X's and O's, good with younger kids. I believe he was the coach of the Phantoms when they won the Calder?
On the same note, I think he coddled Richie and Carter too much, to the point where they goofed off in practice and then when Lavi came in, the whole Dry Island thing actually had to be an issue. |

yea i'd be fine with a forward for d trade....if it's the right kind of move. i pretty much have no realistic interest in trading couturier (the only deals i'd be ok with are pipe dreams). i really think our best bet is to keep our heads and stick with the kids. let them develop together. if they get themselves closer to contention, then you think about trying to acquire that big piece |

The Golden Crown? I just watched that scene 5 minutes ago. Hated that sniveling little snot, so I thoroughly enjoyed it
Next up on the annoy-o-meter is Joffrey, but he'll be around for a while. Sansa is really annoying in the books, but the girl playing her is cute so somehow I seem to tolerate her here a little more |

According to capgeek if we do all that I said in my previous post, sign Nabokov to a 2 year, 6 mil deal, then next offseason resign G for 7mil/yr, BS for 3.5-4mil/yr, Coots for 3.5-4mil/yr, and then sign Letang to a 7.5-8mil/yr deal next offseason, we would still have around 3-5 mil in cap space to sign or bring up a #6 dman and resign Mason. Really seems like patience is the best way to go here. |

How far have you watched? I'm more of a Tyrion fan myself, but Jaime gets more interesting as time goes on. |
