Ray is basically giving him one more chance. No doubt if the results are the same next year, he'll be gone. Just because his extension is for two more years, doesn't mean he'll survive it.

they aren't also going on 15 game winning streaks as well as be number 1 in the conference...
atleast with babcock he has coached his way into the Stanley cup enough times to keep his job. Wings arnt getting blown out in games and shut out by lesser teams...
as well as not going 0-15 on the pp - nh4442
He's won 1 cup with the Red Wings, 2 Stanley Cup finals. He has also lost in the 1st or 2nd round 5 of the 8 years he's been their coach. |

And since Byslma broke in the league in the 2009 playoffs, him and Babcock have identical 28-22 records.
Would I have been happy to try a new coach with a new approach? Yes, I would. But it's hard to get too upset about this.
And I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people who hate Bylsma, will hate the next coach by the halfway part of their first season. |

No, Ray realizes he's a good coach and that blaming his team failure on Bylsma is weak. |

MAF staying too. - madmike71
Don't read into anything Shero says about Fleury. It is window dressing. Actions will speak louder than words as it pertains to MAF. |

I don't know Gunner, he sounded really emphatic. After several years of listening to him, he's a pretty honest guy. After hearing those statements, he's staying. |

Different contract situation. Staal said himself that his decision to turn down the contract from the Pens was pretty much a last minute thing. |

Now that Bylsma is off the market, coaching dominoes have to start falling today around the league right? |

Its not a different concept. He isn't going to bad mouth "assets" that he still has control of.
What does Shero gain by saying the Penguins are going to move on from Fleury at a press conference today? |

I like the Bylsma extension. It give him 2 years to figure it out. If it hasn't happened after that, it's new blood time. |

I'm sorry, but the Boston series wasn't Blysma's fault competely. Some of it was, but you can put the blame on players as well. Crosby had his worse 4 game stretch in his career, just to name one. - cap1681
No, you can't. But his plan against Boston sucked.

Do the Blues fire Hitchcock? Wings havent been in a Conference Final since 2009, should the Wings can Babcock? - Gunner Staal
But the thing is that they don't have a complete meltdown like the pens do. The red wings team was mediocre yet they took the hawks to 7 games. The blues simply lack scoring and like the kings rely too heavily on defense. Quick was also unbelievable against the blues. If the change isn't coaching, then what is it going to be, because its obvious bylsmas system isn't getting anything done. |

They were up 3-1. Losing 3 straight is a meltdown. |

Against a very talented hawks team? That would be like if the pens came back against the senators down 3-1. Not a melt down at all. Being embarassed by Philly last year, barely getting by the isles and getting swept by the bruins is a meltdown |
