The lockout was about getting a 50/50 split. - Gunner Staal
And when these contracts keep continuing to be in excess of Saudi Arabia's GDP for long terms, we'll have another lockout in 7 years (or 8, I forget the length untilt eh first optional year) to lower that number because the players are getting too much. |

8 years is way too far down the road to be making accurate speculation about a potential lockout.
Furthermore with the change in the present CBA, you can't cheat the system to get a lower cap hit like before. The result of this will be star players seeing a higher AAV. That doesn't mean they are getting more money than before. |

Yeah...but you have to live in Russia and endure 8-hour flights (within your own conference) on top-of-the-line Russian aircraft. |

With that being said, we ought to be more reluctant drafting Russian players now.
They could jump ship easier now. |

Why exactly would we want Morrow Garth ? Have you watched the playoffs and what it takes to get to the finals ? As for Shero get a clue as well.Your coach designed a system which basically sucked and you gave him probably the most talented group of players any fan could dream to have and what did he do with it? You reward him with a contract extension ? Your so called starting goalie fell apart in the playoffs for the second straight year and you proclaim him your future ? Must be that Pittsburg something in the water thing you and Terry P share.Heres an idea lets build for the cup even tho we cant seem to make the playoffs. Some of these guys need some help in the media relations |

right now its a no brainer for them to stay in nhl, but say the league locks out players demanding 20% cut in salaries, and the khl will gladly say "okay how about a 40% increase"
what would you do if you could have a c+/b- living standard while making 12 million instead of a b+/a living standard making 7 million |

I'd rather have a higher standard of living as a multi-millionaire as opposed to a lower standard of living as a multi-millionaire. |

We got a dog 3 weeks ago and has started training us well on how to wake up to crying at 4-5 am. Away at obedience camp so the fiance and I got some sleep.
Congrats on the baby. - hubie

Miller + Grigo+8th and a prospect ?? IMO that's a lot - sbroads24
In my opinion far too much.
I don't know where people are getting these crazy scenarios but if Darcy has offered this he should have his head examined. Sorry just my opinion. |

To move to Texas (some of the cheapest housing prices in the US), yes.
To move to ever-crumbling Russia, no. |

I struggle to understand why you imply this deal is a bad one? He got only a 800,000 dollar raise and could have signed a 7 year deal closer to 11 mil with 29 other teams in the league after next season. Another grand slam for Shero to lock him up long term at a 'discount' rate. And remember, the deal doesn't start until 2014-15. caps expected to rise steadily after the fall next year... I expect in a few years Malkins deal will look like a steal. |
