Wouldn't it take too much to get to number 1? I'd rather get Shinkaruk and Domi and have those hard workers prosper next to Armia, Girgo and Grigo.....Thoughts?

Two words, people:
Not Happening. - buffalokb
I frankly don't want it to
I'm giving up all the assets it would take, too much
I think ppl are so obsessed with the idea that we NEED a top pick to build a good team
Who's the highest drafted guy on the Bruins that really contributes?
Seguin is starting to, but he's hardly the reason they're winning
I believe Horton was a high pick, but he's FAR from a "SUPERSTAR" type that ppl are saying we NEED
I'd love for someone to take the time to list when all the Bruins were drafted
Chara
Bergeron
Rask
Krejci
Lucic
Seidenberg
Marchand
Etc...
I'm pretty sure they were all 2nd round picks or lower |

Everyone has their own opinion. What people need to consider when arguing about teams that drafted #1 overall is no one traded for that pick like we need to. You look at this years Cup finalists, the Blackhawks drafted Kane and Toews, #1 and #2 while the Bruins drafted Krejci, Lucic, Marchand and Bergeron in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I'd personally like to see them load up on 1st and 2nd round picks this year and play the kids for a possible #1 in both 2014 and 2015. |

Rask was a 1st. I think Lucic was too. Bergeron was a mid-2nd, the rest were either late seconds or later.
Edit: Lucic was a 2nd. |

Horton is amazing in the playoffs, and without Seguin they probably dont beat tampa bay the year they won the cup. While they arent their best players they certainly are good pieces to their team.

I'm right there with ya
If it's REASONABLE to trade up and get Barkov (best player in draft IMO), then I'd do it...
But otherwise,
Trading guys like Vanek & Miller can get us more 1st rounders, plus more picks & prospects...
We have the option of taking on bad contracts (Bryzgalov, DiPietro, Lecavalier maybe? There's plenty out there) that can get us back picks or prospects too...
And we have guys like Ott and Ehrhoff that could be VERY attractive to teams as well
Kevin Devine said the 1st round is 25players deep
So I'd like us to make as many moves as possible, to get as many of those guys as possible
Add all that talent to the pretty good young group we already have
That's how u rebuild!
Maybe we wouldn't have a "superstar"
But we very well could end up with FOUR lines of guys that all have 2nd line talent...
And that sounds good to me |

Ya, he seems to get unlucky with the injures. Versus vancouver he was a good rallying point for the team though. |

Just on one point: If Bryzgalov is to be moved, he'll be CBO, not traded, so the Flyers don't risk the cap recapture. Also, if Briere is traded, it would be a hockey trade, not a dump. Otherwise, they'll just CBO him as well. |

So they've managed to build an excellent team without picking a guy anywhere near the top of the first round
My point is tht everyone seems to be overvaluing just how important it is to get a top3 pick
Your best guy is Giroux right?
Wasn't he drafted like 22nd or something like that?
We don't need to ridiculously overpay to get some guy that could very well never live up to our expectations
Looking back,
Doesn't just about everyone think we should've not matched the Oilers offer sheet to Vanek?
Same kind of philosophy
Many good parts > one great part |

If they can't/aren't willing to pay what is needed to move up, the 8th is where the run on defensemen is going to start. I say try and move back with Columbus (14 and 19) or Dallas(10 and 29). |

"cap recapture"
What's that?
I could see them buying out Briere,
But if they want rid of Bryzgalov, I think they'd rather someone else spend the 20mil (or whatever it's cost) if they don't have to give up too much |

The cap recapture is a rule in the new CBA. If a player has a front-loaded deal in excess of 5 years and retires before the completion of the contract, the team that signed him is hit with a pretty absurd cap penalty. With Bryz, if he retires in the offseason before his final year (traded or not) the Flyers are hit with a $6M penalty.
The problem is, they can trade him, and the other team is not obligated to do anything; they can use him if they want without any fear. |

If Lindholm is gone,
Then I'm ok with that
Ristolainen is my fav defenseman (besides Jones) in the draft, and we could prob get him at 10, maybe 14 or even 16 bc I think teams will be high on the possible ceiling for guys like Nurse, Zadorov, Pullock, etc
And Horvat, Domi, Mantha, etc could jump up into the early teens as well
I could see him drop a little bit |

But not if he's bought out by the new team, right?
They would just have to make that part of the deal |

Been seeing Mantha's stock dropping to the early 20's lately. |
