Correct, which is $20-21 million.
Which is more than he'd get on the open market. - bradleyc4
But that is $21M over the next 14 years which is about $1.5M per year. That is a huge step down financially.
Edit: they'll be paying Bryz long after Snider goes to his grave. |

I think you have the number wrong. He will get 2/3rds of the 31M. - MJL
In this case, $31 million is what he will be paid over the next five seasons if he isn't bought out.
2013-14 $8,000,000
2014-15 $6,000,000
2015-16 $6,000,000
2016-17 $5,500,000
2017-18 $5,500,000 |

So go from one "locker room cancer" to another? Although that one plays a better game... however, after a year off? - TrentKlatt
a year off and he's 40 years old! No thanks. |

Couturier had a decent rookie season, a great round of playoffs vs the Penguins and a disappointing shortened 2nd season. You can just as easily say Hamilton might wind up being the much better player too. Hamilton at least fills a bigger need. - phillydentist
Hamilton could very well be the better player. But the point is that the Flyers felt like Couturier was the better player. |

Right. I'm not criticizing the pick. The original question stated "in retrospect". And with the Flyers needs being what they are, I'd rather have Hamilton right NOW. |

You cant buy out pronger... - jak521
No, but he's going to be stuck on LTIR for the rest of his Career so his hit does not really count against the cap anyway. |

Not quite that simple. His hit counts in the offseason and in the season as well except the Flyers can go over the cap by his hit. |

Which further illustrates my point. That the only reason that is being said is because of the position he plays. So much more to it. |

Not entirely accurate. It affects the off season cap, as well as during the Season, with regards to bonus cushion use. It still has an affect. |

Absolutely. Which is why I'm not saying that the Flyers should have picked someone else. Just based on the position they play. |

Its an intriguing idea if he signs for like a million. You could either get a vesina calibur goalie, or he could be shot, in which case you have to call Boucher again. |

David Clarkson ($4.250m) - jak521
All the Clarkson buzz reminds me of the summer Brooks Laich was going UFA... 3rd-line talent with inflated numbers from playing with world-class players at ES and on the PP.
I'd rather take on the rest of Ryan Malone's deal from Tampa than make a wild stab at a guy like Clarkson. |
|
|
|
I'm pretty sure you can. There's been lots of conversations about say Ricky D going from NYI to a team (as per Bob McKenzie) that's willing to buy him out for a good young prospect. Kinda like, again, purely hypothetical here!!
To NYI - Luongo
To Vancouver - Rick Dipietro, Niederrietter and a 2nd. - LeftCoaster
I'd be Happy with Just Nied & 2nd.........for LUO...........they can keep Ricky... |

Some team will throw $5M a year at him. And it won't be this team. Makes you wonder if teams will just be content working out minor trades and ignore the FA pool altogether? May just be the cap floor teams throwing darts at it, at least in the beginning. |

wild stab would be on a guy like Bickell (ala Joel Ward) .. you know EXACTLY what you are getting with a player like Clarkson |

Was hoping they'd be scouting Bickell before this crazy playoff run. They want size up fron, he give you that. And apparently is capable of scoring - he at least has a rocket of a shot. He probably priced himself out of signing here. |

That is true, but unfortunatly CapGeek does not have a LTIR button, at least not that I've found. So however people try to remove Pronger from the equation dealing with the year should not be a focal point when posting potential Roster scenarios from Capgeek. |

I agree... He is probably one of the top 10 biggest pain in the ass players in the league. He brings his lunch pail to work and doesnt go home till the job is done. |
