To be fair, the only guy clear of question marks at the moment is Lundqvist... and maybe Rask. - Tomahawk
I completely disagree. Lundquist has looked shakey, and my buddy is a Rangers fan, and even he said Lundquist has seen his best days. I think its all down hill for him. |

I love so much watching Patrick Sharp light it up for the Hawks.
Can't wait to see Read turn into another Sharp type player and excel for another team.

1. While he looked great this season, Emery's hip could flare up at any time.
2. Kind of like LA now.
3. Leighton - Scoob
The other concern I have with Emery is one that Bill mentioned, that he's not as dynamic as he was before, more of a let the puck hit him goalie now....a lot like Ilya Bryzgalov. |

What about moving Schenn to wing for good and adding Weiss for a 2nd line Center.
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Weiss-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Talbot
Raffl/McGinn-Laughton/Holmstrom-Rinaldo
2 Solid scoring lines, a great defensive line that can chip in goals against other teams top lines, and an energy line also capable of playing against 2nd line and adding some offensive support. - youarewrong
I'm not sure I want to pigeon-hole Schenn as a winger just yet. Nor do I want to do a long-term deal for a center with Giroux, Couturier and Schenn on the roster. |

It's pretty much assured he'll go to LA, end up on a line with Richards and Carter. That line will be the catalyst in LA's second championship next season.
Meanwhile, not only will Bernier fail miserably as our goaltender, he'll morph into a giant squid and eat Claude Giroux. |

To be honest and look at this from both sides, is Bernier as good as he has looked. He is backstopping one of the best defensive teams in the league. Could his numbers and looks be inflated because of this? - youarewrong
Absolutely. That's one of the questions I have about him. That said he's very athletic, and has good reflexes. When called upon to make tough saves, he did answer the call this past season.

Buying out Bryz pretty much means they're taking a flyer (hehe) on Mason and/or some other goalie anyway, and Bernier, to me, is worth taking a chance on. - Scoob
I'd rather take a chance on Mason and not give up an asset such as Read to take a chance on Bernier. |

honestly, i think a read for bernier trade is an awesome hockey deal that is fair and makes sense for both sides. i understand there is risk involved in a young goalie, but i think this particular player is about as sure as such a venture can possibly be.
i absolutely love read. would love him on the pens. he is a talented and versatile guy. but you have to give to get. i understand it opens up a hole in the forward ranks, but its virtually impossible to make a deal to help one area without weakening another. |

not even a stretch to imagine this
you forgot to add that homer will throw in a 2nd rounder in the deal
Read + 2nd rounder for Bernier
btw we saw an absolutely gorgeous sunset Friday and stellar day Sat waterskiing and tubing on the Elk River |

this is the only reason i wouldnt jump on that deal, is if you truly think that mason has a chance of regaining his form and becoming a decent starter. |

V nice, how was the water?
One of the most characteristic things about the Elk River is the mud. Nowhere else do I get the heeby jeebies I get from touching that strange muck. It's familiar and comforting, in an unsettling, kind of disgusting sort of way.
EDIT: Oh, as for Mutant Squid Bernier, the real kick in the pants is when he escapes into the night sky, departing for his home somewhere in the voids of space. His salary will remain on the cap for the Flyers. |

He also plays for the stingiest defensive coach in the NHL right now. He has looked far from stellar this year if you actually watched a lot of games. |
