Got love hindsight, eh??
Should have drafted Scott Stevens in 1982 instead of Ron Sutter.
Should have kept Forsberg and not made the Lindros deal
Should have never hired Wayne Cashman as head coach in 1997
Should have tried to trade Lindros in the summer of '98 when they still could have gotten peak value for him
Should have never traded Rod Brind'amour
Should have signed Cujo over Beezer in 1998
Should have never traded Patrick Sharp
Should have kept Bob and not signed Bryz

Well.. folks that only follow one team tend to not take into account the other teams in the league. I wonder how many jaded fans are in St. Louis bemoaning their team all the time? Or is Philly's fanbase just particularly pessimistic? |

Yeah must be fun being a Blues fan. Start off with 3 straight trips to the finals from 68-70 and not a sniff since. Heck at least the Canucks made it to 2 finals! Gotta pretty much suck to be a Sabres fan too, since they are 0 for their existence when it comes to titles, plus you have the Bills and just the plain fact of living in Buffalo, ugh!!
I would love to see the cup return to Philly as much as anyone, but at least the team is usually competitive and they will try anything to succeed. It's more than can be said for many NHL teams. |

crazy that the flyers have had goalie issues for so many years trade away a vezina winning goalie - 2Real

Meh. I meant in a later round. I don't care about this year now. We already have missed the playoffs playing "Let's force the roster back into playoff contention." Rebuild. - Flyskippy
Plenty of time to get this turned around. They have some holes to fill like every other team. Hopefully they can find a way to play better this year. |

I'm still surprised they fired their coach. I'm sure he will do a hell of a job in NY. |

I feel a lot of posts around here are nothing less then silly." Oh, we never should have traded away the Venzina Nominated Bobrovsky".
I'm sure there were many Bob fans here before he was traded away but NOBODY knew he was gonna become a Venzina nominee anymore then whether or not we were going to have a full season, half season or no season at all this year.
Personally I think most fans have more of a reason for Mike Richards and Jeff Carter getting traded. Not because we should have known they were gonna win a Cup but because we drafted them and groomed them over the course of 6 seasons. They were undoubtedly NHL talents that we gave up on. This mistake cannot happen again for no reason. Not even Shea Weber. We have to move forward with Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Luke Schenn, Steve Mason, Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier. We have to allow this core to grow together before deciding to make another blunder like trading away our center pieces and handing another team another cup. |

Yes, it does sting a bit to see Bob win the Vezina. The Flyers dropped the ball organizationally on him, which unfortunately is kind of the way they handle goalies and defensemen.
Hopefully the Bryz buyout will sting enough for the Flyers to pull their heads out of their asses. |

I'm not surprised they did. The GM had to do something big to save his own skin. |

I don't think this team wins a cup with Richards & Carter still here for the last two seasons. Will never find out but that's just my opinion. I would still make both those trades today. |

i'm 100% with you that they need to identify, stick with, a build around a young core (... i'd say at least giroux, voracek, schenn, schenn, couturier, simmonds) |

The handling of the awards this season is a joke. The players who won have known for weeks, and TSN spoiled them over the last few days. McKenzie revealed Subban on Thursday or Friday and Dreger mentioned the Hart winner wasn;t making the ceremony because he was in Russia |

The only trophy that matters is Lord Stanley. That's the one I want the Flyers to capture.

Sure it's the only team award that matters. But individual awards should be handled better than they were by the NHL. |

Thank you...somebody finally said it...it easy to play Monday morning quarterback....with regards to bryz they tried to get a top tier goalie and it backfired it happens that's sports...only thing that annoys me about bryz signing is the fact that the team didn't see the possibility of him being a system goalie |

The Flyers didn't have to trade Bobrovsky but with Bryz signed for long-term it didn't make much sense to keep Bob from developing (his cap hit and not being able to go down to play). |

The pronger injury was the straw that broke the camels back. There are so few Pronger like d men out there that once that happened we went from contender to pretender and there was nothing anyone could about it |
