Bryzgalov is gone, they will trade for another goalie or dip into the UFA pool to shore it up.
I could see Meszaros being shopped for a pick, and depending what else is out there, they could try to add another top 9 winger. - Jsaquella
Honestly, with those moves do you think they will be playoff-ready next year? Personally, I'm not sure. |

Plus the Bonus cushion. Don't have to be at or under the Upper Limit. Just have to be Cap compliant. - MJL
Wait, you mean they don't get any reward for having the most cap space? |

He wanted 4 years, near $5mm with the Isles. Let's face it, he wasn't taking much less to come to terms here. - Jsaquella
The deal doesn't surprise me. It's actually less than my feared price and yrs. I thought he'd try to get to 40 on the contract. |

not much out there sir
we're you hoping they tried the offer sheet route again? - Crimsoninja
Like jumping too far ahead of the goalie market with Bryz, I'm kind of afraid that they might have just done the same again.
10% upper-limit reduction with a good number of teams needing to juggle payroll... CBO's, salary-dumps... who knows what names would have been available come July 1-5?
I'd take a freshly CBO'd/salary-shared Liles over Streit any day of the week.

Good news for the devils in that they can go back to dumping pucks in the corner to force the backhand on our LH dmen lineup!

I didn't mean I didn't think they're gonna make the playoffs. Just asking you guys' opinion. If they don't buyout Bryz, I'll be shocked. |

No thanks to Liles. Never liked him. Frequent scratch. Wouldn't waste a dime on him. And it's not jumping ahead if you get the player you want. |

I do. They should have been a playoff team last year. Poor coaching, combined with injuries and several guys underachieving led to them falling short last season and adding Streit will certainly help in the area of their biggest weakness last year...the transition game. |

if we buyout bryz we're not making the playoffs for sure
can't gamble the season on mason... unless we bring in nabokov of the early 2000's oh wait that's bob |

I think Bryzgalov is a better goaltender then Mason but youth is on the side of Mason. I don't feel Streit makes our D any stronger then it was before defensively. I just expect more offense from the blue line. In fact if Streit's cap hit looks anything between 5.5 million to 6 million. I feel it's interesting that the Flyers went from signing a poor defensively 6 million dollar center, to a poor defensively 6 million dollar defenseman. |

If Islanders made the playoffs Im sure the Flyers can. Islanders have some nice pieces Tavares and some other guys but not a better team than Flyers. |

The Gonchar trade and contract set the market, unfortunately. They're reacting, yet again. |

It is if you jump ahead to get a player you want, only to find out later that you don't really want him after all... while you watch more patient franchises pick up guys like Vokoun for pennies on the dollar. |

So the choice was between signing a guy to a sunset contract or be forced to trade one of the kids?
Apparently, there's only two ways to skin a cat. - Tomahawk
Well, you could always try to stuff Weber in a bag, smuggle him out os Nashville and throw a Flyers jersey over him, but i'm not sure it would work. |

That's not necessarily true. Isles made the playoffs in a year they weren't expected to, when some players of the "future" team are not in the NHL. |
