We didn't trade anyone for him and he fills a need. If this activates the Bryzgalof buy out it's a win win. I'm done with him. - mayorofangrytown

If Islanders made the playoffs Im sure the Flyers can. Islanders have some nice pieces Tavares and some other guys but not a better team than Flyers. - flyerfan28
The islanders have a better young forward and dman (Tavares and hamonic) than the flyers can boast. |

Not as bad as I thought, even though Mark Streit could very well get eaten up the same as Bryzgalov without saying anything to the media at all.. |

Honestly, with those moves do you think they will be playoff-ready next year? Personally, I'm not sure. - NYI44
Well another 34 games would have given the Islanders enough rope to hang themselves with, so yea. They make the playoffs next year. |

It's funny how I ask a simple question on the FLYERS blog about the Flyers, and get responses that are attacking the Isles. All I wanted to know was your opinion about the FLYERS. |

It is if you jump ahead to get a player you want, only to find out later that you don't really want him after all... while you watch more patient franchises pick up guys like Vokoun for pennies on the dollar. - Tomahawk
It's not a random spur of the moment choice. Nor is it about patience. It's about identifying a target and making it happen. And they don't have the opportunity to sit back in hindsight after the fact.

...adding Streit will certainly help in the area of their biggest weakness last year...the transition game. - Jsaquella
I'm worried about his lack of size and below-average skating... luckily offensively the puck moves faster than anything, but defensively, small and slow-ish is a cause for concern, even in protected matchups.

It is a concern. But they'd have a lot of the same worries with a McBain or Liles.
I do wish they had waited. They probably could have gotten the same deal done with him as a UFA. Of course, they also might have run into somebody else bidding higher. |
