Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 15m
Goes without saying but will say it anyway (again): PHI will use its two compliance buyouts on Briere and Bryzgalov.
Sounds pretty certain, huh? |

Wow. You really want to do this?
Braydon Coburn and Nicklas Grossmann both missed substantial amounts of time. If the Flyers only gave up two more goals than the Islanders, do the math -- assuming good health, what do you think is going to happen next year?
Seriously -- the Islanders made the playoffs last year. Good for them. But let's not kid ourselves: The Flyers didn't even play well last year...and still only gave up two more goals than the Isles?
Maybe you should be more worried about your squad than you think. - AllInForFlyers
I'm not here to do anything. I know what the Isles short coming are. I just stated the Flyers are not that much better then the Isles on the back end as some think. That's all. Too each his own I'm not here to get in a pissing match |

Basically it will be like the last 3 years of Timonen and next year of him. Slightly lesser skilled in some areas. Slightly more in others for less money. And while Kimmo has been a number 1 or 1A in his career, Streit is more of a no. 2 or 3. But as much as top d men are going for, I will take it. - section32
This is a great opportunity to take best D man available @ 11 and have him up and playing to replace Streit in a few years. |

i understand that but you're paying him #1/#2 minutes.
additionally, isn't he over 35? so even if he retires or something his cap hit remains on the books?
maybe someone will send giroux an offer sheet worth 8.5M a season - rangerdanger94
Actually they are paying him to be a PP quarterback and fill a very specific need that this team lacks.

Does anyone know for sure when we're allowed to use our compliancy buyouts? can we use them right now? or do we have to wait till the playoffs are over? |

I believe it's June 25th to July 5th. Players will have to be placed on Waivers for the purpose of a buyout first.

Assuming draft rankings go as planned I dont see how Pulock or Ristolainen arent the best guys available at 11. |

PP QBs are indeed hard to come by. still not sure one is worth over $5M just to be a PP QB alone.
streit would've gotten the contract had he hit the open market regardless. i just think that you guys are gonna regret it halfway through the season when you realize how much he's aged and how bad he is defensively. not saying he's a 5 or 6 but he should slot in as 3.
the contract might be worth it for a season, maybe 2, but once you're paying the dude when he's 38 or 39 or if he retires before then and the cap hit is still on books, you guys might be saying WTFFFF. |

Bryzgalov is gone, they will trade for another goalie or dip into the UFA pool to shore it up.
I could see Meszaros being shopped for a pick, and depending what else is out there, they could try to add another top 9 winger. - Jsaquella
Can they keep all 7? With Grossman and Mezs injuries, you would think a little insurance would be good. Not to mention Kimmo only has a year left. |
