Someone mentioned his impressive press conference. Eakins stated the systems they play will vary due to the opponent. I liked that answer. Sounds like chip Kelly on ice. Not that he's done anything. But the guy seems adaptable and that's what I want in my coach. Not someone that lives and dies playing one type of hockey. - Just5
he's a new waver. did a great job w/ the marlies |

Pretty much every Coach has been fired everywhere he's been. Let's put the Phantoms in context. What was the talent level like on the team? If you're going to assess Murray properly as the Phantoms Coach. It is how did he improve and teach the young players the right way to play. Not by wins and losses. - MJL
Holmgren's in charge of the Phantoms talent level, so I would say it pretty much blows. |

ballard is getting bought out most likely according to several sources and my evaluation is based on that. - isaiah520
You're evaluation is based on that? Still doesn't make a case that he's a better choice. You want him as a cheaper 3rd pair defenseman, fine. But it doesn't help the Flyers replace what they lost in Carle.

This doesn't address what I asked you. I thought the discussion was on Murray? |

Why would it? One out of every 75 posts is a relevant point. The rest is complaining and crying. |

Ok I'm bored. I'll play. You asked what was the talent level like on the Phantoms didn't you? If it was poor, who's fault is that? |

Yes, he has to clear Waivers to be sent down to start the Season with the Phantoms. - MJL
Geez. More reason to dump Mez. |

I wonder why Rask's playoff numbers are skull (frank)ing the numbers Tim Thomas put up.
I guess Chara is like Barry Bonds, he's getting better with age. |

They add a few minor pieces. Buyout Bryz and Briere. Make one trade to free up more space for a pick.
Get to camp and realize Mason is the bomb. |

It's signed. Flyers have to get under the cap before announcing it. Once they buyout Briere which will be soon that contract of Streit will be on the books. |

just like to point out that you guys should tell me who was the last UFA who was at the top of his class that DIDNT get overpaid?
You'd think people would (frank)ing realize these types of things...
Brad Richards was overpaid. Marian Gaborik was overpaid. Parise and Suter were overpaid, Danny was overpaid, Bryz was overpaid, every god forsaken top player at their UFA class was overpaid!!!
how have people not caught onto this yet??? If you want a top UFA YOU ARE GOING TO OVERPAY.
That simple! - FLYERSROCK!
So what's your point? Could you elaborate? |

Briere is a goner, and depending on who one believes(Eklund, Ren Lavoie & Panaccio or Dreger & McKenzie) so is Bryzgalov. Panaccio claims that the Flyers will try to trade for a goalie before using a buy out on Bryzgalov, but if they can't he will be staying and another trade will be made to clear room.
Even if they use both CBOs, they will still likely trade a defenseman, just out of sheer numbers(they have 8 guys who are not waivers exempt once Streit is officially signed). Outside of that, it's anyone's guess. |

I'm pretty confident the G extension will be announced some time in July. |

They are working on it, but it will only have a minimal impact on this summer's moves. |

Probably, but with G getting paid superstar money and the uncertainity if and how much the cap will go up next summer, I gotta believe making a run at an expensive forward is pretty much out of the question. Unless, Hartnell or Simmonds is being moved out and the replacement gets slotted in. Of course, personally I don't see anyone as a free agent that much better of an option, which will be more expensive.
