It's a big stretch to call him a cancer in the locker room. - MJL
Any guy who says Joseph Stalin's actions were acceptable and he could understand and see why he did these things needs to be bought out.
he (frank)ed himself over this offseason with all these media fiasco's. |

What posts were bashing Briere? The only posts about the guy were joke trade proposals.
Correction: One post was about Briere, and it wasn't even bashing him so much as supporting a buyout. - BulliesPhan87
And if he were the same player we signed 5 years ago the decision would be different. He has always been really clutch in the playoffs, but he has regressed over the past two seasons. It is a plain and simple math problem really, and due to the changes with these CBO's, it makes no sense to not buy him out. I certainly appreciate what he has given and wish him well. He'll, he'll probably make much more being bought out. He is young enough to still garner a decent contract. |

Mason will turn some heads this year, just a feeling, nothign to really back that up except his few games with you last year.
Ride it out, Let him earn and steal the number job away from Bryz, then next summer buy out Bryz if Mason steals his spot |

I don't think a guy looking at the possibility of getting 2/3 of a multi million dollar contract for free can really be described as having '(frank)ed himself over'. |

Many players are tired of his act and dont want to play for him. Is that a better way to put it. |

I'm with you. It's no slight to Briere, neither right now or on his career as a Flyer, when I say I'm on board with CBOing him. |

Nor do his stupid comments on history have any relevance to whether he continues to play for the Flyers. |

meant in terms of staying with Philly...
have this bad feeling we keep him, and he prevents us for making any further deals. |

All we've heard is that a few of his teammates don't like him. So what! He's not the first player we've heard that about and won't be the last. If he had a 2.25 GAA and .920 SV%, I bet they'd like him more! And the players don't play for him. They play for the Flyers. |

I never said this. I'm very much open to Steve Mason. If he can stop the puck, I'm fine with him. He also has past relationships with players on this team, so we already know that he fits in. |

Agreed. Maybe there's small consideration paid to him being a 'distraction', but I think the major factors in a buyout are obvious: level of play and consistency versus the big commitment that is his contract, and the dangers of the cap recapture rule. |

Somebody on Puck Daddy had the greatest comment on that article... "Bryz...better at ducking pucks than questions." |

That says WAY more about the players in front of him than it says about the goalie, and if this is even remotely true, the Flyers have MUCH bigger issues than we thought. |

You can buy one "Mason" jersey and be covered if either player steals the starting goalie job.
It's genius. |

username jakew1234 (or something like that) could get a Mason jersey with Steve's number on one sleeve and Chris's on the other. It'd match his abomination Schenn jersey.

At the rate we change course in goal I have resorted to velcro name plates and numbers for my goalie jerseys. |

But Chris need to be number 33. My Last name is Mason. My Lucky number is 33 because I was born March 3rd. Obviously my wifes name is Mason, and she was born 3/5... Steve Mason is already 35.
It would be too perfect. Like Flyers promotional perfect. Maybe they could replace the fat dancing guy with me and my wife.... |

Yes.
Mason has years of NHL mediocrity under his belt already. - bradleyc4
And a Calder trophy. It's not like he played behind a stud team. Mediocrity almost defines that CBJ era. Not advocating throwing him to the wolves, a solid if not above average goaltender is needed if Bryz is bought out. |

My wife is still pissed at me because a couple years ago when we had season tickets she asked who she should get for Jersey. I got Giroux and I told her JVR was a safe pick.... ooopsss. |
