Most arenas here in the US are named after banks. How do those stack up IYO? - hscesq
Well without getting political, banks are pretty evil entities. I'm glad the Sens got away from it.
Yeah, Canadian Tire does have a lot of 'cheap' products, but there is also some good stuff there, too. Like I said, you can at least go there with your son or daughter and buy them a full set of hockey gear. It may not be the top of the line stuff, but they at least carry it.
Outside Sport Check or Pro Hockey life sponsoring a team (or maybe a kick ass restaurant), Canadian Tire is about as good as we can get. |

I'm still pondering which side I will blindly defend to the death in the Canadian Tire / Scotia Bank debate currently raging in this forum.
at times like these I feel we need Oilhab to move into the eastern time zone. |

Wonder if HP had to pay more to the Sharks for the HP Pavillon. |

I'm not a Jays fan, or even a baseball fan for that matter. But Brett Lawrie comes across as an insufferable bumhole. - Pecafan Fan
I think the bumhole part is a little exagerated. He's never really said anything overly stupid to the media, or on any social media and I've never heard anyone (press or player) say anything bad about him on a personal level. I think he's got a canadian hockey player mentality and intensity level. Unfortunately for him, the sport is baseball, the people around the game are far more laid back and I don't think appreciate the intensity. That being said, I think with baseball being such a "thinking game", his intensity will eventually lower, or it'll get in the way of him ever reaching his potential. |

Huge difference between a retailer and an extractor. Canadian Tire isn't setting up wells in war ravaged countries 'we' invaded. |

At least you can actually buy hockey gear at Canadian Tire. Most fitting sponsor in the league. Let's compare it to the other Canadian teams.
Montreal - Phone company that is part of an oligopoly that fixes prices and screws everyone.
Toronto - Worst airline in history that is only around because of gov't bailouts.
Winnipeg MTS - another phone company scamming ppl.
Calgary - Evil bank.
Edmonton - Pharmaceutical retailer .. probably the worst of them all..
Vancouver - Yet another phone/cable company in the Oligopoly.
Yep, Canadian Tire is by far the best of the bunch. - Charliebox
argument wasn't about how fitting they are as a sponsor. it's about how stupid Canadian Tire Centre sounds. it sounds like a big box store. i think using "Arena" would have been much better. or even keeping "Place". but i don't think anyone expects anything more from the Sens marketing/PR/advertising departments. |

I would say this is correct.
I don't get why any of these places call themselves "centre" anyway it sounds stupid. |

i guess "Centre" is used to promote the building as a multi-optional venue... |
