There's no reason for Lombardi to not aim high right now. There is plenty of time. An Offer Sheet is not really a threat to LA, because Bernier is likely going to be dealt before July 5th.

right, but think they are looking to unload Bryz any which way possible this year. Bernier is, by most accounts, ready to be a starting goalie. Having two young guys compete for the number one spot is not a bad thing at all. The onnly thing i would be worried about is how Lavy handles them next year.... The guy is a great coach, but a piss poor manager of talent.

They do have a deep prospect pool, but i dont think they are a ideal trade partner... The kings need a scoring winger. The question is how many wingers out there that can score 25 goals and only make 900k? Not many.

That's it...I don't even know why this is a question.

I certainly acknowledge that the Kings are kinda screwed and I'd absolutely be sour if this situation was one the Flyers had to deal with.

But at the same time, the baseline for this thing is that the Kings are in a bad spot if somebody signs Bernier to an offer sheet with a value of a second-round pick.

They can match, or not. But there's no reason whatsoever for any team to offer more than that value -- and I'm on record as believing that Matt Read's value is that of a high second-round player.

Actually LA wants a first round draft pick. And the ability to resign their RFA's. So the question is, do we want to trade the 11th pick? I don't. Not without massive other compensation coming back... now if we had a lower 1st rounder to trade I might do it...

Edit, on second thought, if I had a lower first rounder, I'd probably just use it. Forget Bernier, if he's still around after the buyouts, give em and offer sheet.
