Any chance they break the bank for the king if the rangers regress next year? |

Why dont we just offer a 2nd and Cousins and get this over with? Kings can send back a later pick too if that makes the Flyers feel better
2nd & Cousins
for
Bernier & 4th - hereticpride
It's no where near the point where the Kings would accept an offer like that.

zero need is right. i listened to Tim and it's funny how panicky he sounds. we'll see if they learned anything about supply and demand from the bryz/vokoun fiasco. - isaiah520
The panic will end when snider ends his reign |

I don't see it. I'd think whatever they do this year will last at least two. |

Supply and demand doesn't come into play when there are two available Goalies. And you only have interest in one of them. - MJL
you're obviously not an effective negotiator. it appears almost certain that there will be more supply of decent goalies than the demand calls for.
if they like Mason enuf, the flyers just need to relax and let the mkt play out here. relax is the operative word. no reason for high stakes gambling or committing too soon. that's how they got boxed in last time. |

I don't need to be an effective negotiator. And it has zero to do with me. My comment was in regards to your comment that they need to learn from the Bryzgalov/Vokoun debacle. What your not considering is that the Flyers were not interested in Vokoun. They did not want to sign him. They targeted Bryzgalov. The Flyers are aggressive. They make a decision and they go out and try to make it happen. I like that.

So lets say all the Dmen start the season healthy. do the Flyers still trade Mez and what could they get for a healthy Mez? |

there was only one team that needed a goalie that yr- the flyers. had they played vokoun against bryz, they would have not been locked into that quagmire contract. they made a schmucky move and everybody knows it. holy crap. |

Also, my wife and I find out tomorrow if we're having a boy or girl. The first Flyers game we went to after we found out was the game where she won Giroux's jersey off his back. I'm fighting hard for "Claude" or "Claudia." - jmatchett383

So couture took a 6 yr 30 mil dollar deal. Does this breathe hope into giroux for 7.5 at 8 years. Will he take a hometown discount? We will see |

Bryzgalov's agent isn't stupid! It doesn't matter that they were the only team that needed a Goalie. They wanted Bryzgalov. It then becomes a one on one negotiation. And the only thing that made the contract a bad contract, were two things after the fact. One was the new rule made retroactive to all front loaded deals, the Cap recapture rule. That was not in existence when the Flyers signed Bryzgalov. And two, that the results haven't been there. Otherwise, his Cap hit for a starting Goalie playing at a high level is reasonable.

@tpanotchCSN Two NHL sources tell http://bit.ly/SfLfe Flyers & ANA talking about Bobby Ryan. Among scenarios discussed: Coburn & No. 11 pick for Ryan. |

they didn't have to lock themselves in by trading for bryz. nobody else wanted him. what about that don't you get? |

i kinda saw this coming. this time, i think they are going to push the envelope, coming off of a non-playoff season. it's possible that the homer loyalists will blow a gasket this summer. |

Wouldn't have changed anything. What about that don't you get? They still would have targeted Bryzgalov, and they same deal would have been made. And you do not know for a fact that nobody else would have been interested in Bryzgalov. And bid against them to drive the price up even further. That is the whole purpose of acquiring a players rights ahead of time.
They don't have to do anything. They didn't have to trade for Pronger. Or trade Richards and Carter. Or trade for Streit. All choices. That is my point that you're missing. |
