and both teams would be idiotic to make such a deal. ryan's not nearly worth that much - FlyerMike18
Anaheims GM would be enshrined in the hall of fame |

they have equal value but that doesn't mean the ducks will pull the trigger. you will have to overpay for ryan. |

And the other GM involved, would be on the unemployment line.

As Jasq said, it's an easy ruse to see through. Don't see it fooling anyone. If we can see that as a bunch of fans on the internet. I'm quite sure that NHL execs can figure it out also. They know the landscape. - MJL
actions speak louder than words. if homer doesn't make a move, he'll have options, letting the mkt play out to his advantage. if he doesn't see something he likes, he has a built in fall back. and there's always an offer sheet... |

It doesn't. But you make a fair deal. And the deal you proposed isn't realistic in my opinion.

just read through everything and all the rumors coming out.
I am usually excited to hear Flyers rumors this time of year and see where they might be heading, but this is too much. I think I've cringed about 50 times so far in the last 30 min.
good god, i can already see an over reaction blowing up our core where they will all win cups on their new teams while we lather, rinse, and repeat |

obviously the flyers and every other team in the nhl won't be willing to part with what anaheim wants. it's why he wasn't traded at the deadline. |

I agree with an earlier post by Jsquallea (Spelling?) when he said that this could ruse (que Archer references) so that the Flyers dont want to look desperate for a goalie
or
Its also highly likely that both of these RUMORS are completely false and people wrote them clearly for hits.
On another note: How much will it cost to resign Gus? 1M a Year or 1.5? Just wondering...
I was checking out a draft blog today on this site and they have the Flyers taking Wennberg at 11 Personally I like his style but not at 11.
Im all for trading down. My Personnal Favorite Forward not in the top 5 is probably Elias Lindholm. I would love for him to fall to us...though it seems doubtful |

Doubt that Bernier gets to July 5th as a King. He will be dealt before then. There's always options. But again, they identify a target, and go after it. You let the market play out, you can lose out on the player you want.

just read the last couple of pages. okay, the whole top 6 forward, two top prospects, and multiple firsts is ridiculous, and that proposed required deal from the rangers is asinine for ryan.
but you guys would really be that upset over coburn and the 11th for ryan? what is the hang up? |

The hang up could be that they player they could select with #11, could at some point be as good or better then Ryan is. |

weren't columbus' demands for nash absurd at first? just saying, you never know what a team's thinking. and there's been a lot of smoke around ryan the past few years, so i certainly wouldn't be stunned if they were looking to deal him
with that in mind, it's perfectly reasonable to speculate on what you find would be a fair deal or what you'd be willing to pay if it were your call |

okay so its more the pick than coburn?
i guess you are right, but the odds are that it wont. i understand its a first rounder, but its not top 5. i realize that some people drastically overvalue bobby ryan, but still. if you guys think your defense can hold up without coburn, i would take that and run |

Well that and the fact that the ducks where a legit contender....now the game may have changed after the mega deals Getzlaf and Perry got....Anaheim is no that big a hockey market and now is when the return will be highest for Ryan. However what you propose isnt realistic |

Well at the very least, they'd have to have some other avenue to add another defenseman. If they trade Coburn. And Meszaros and Grossmann have some continued injury issues. Then that could be a real issue. But what wouldn't shock me in the least. Is if the Flyers would make a deal like that. And then ship a young Forward out for a defenseman.

Flyers got the Puck moving Dman they desperately needed and within the cap assuming a Dman goes. Now Homer can deal from a position of not needing a piece. Let's hope he shows patience. |

for the record, i still dont think they deal ryan. i think they keep hoping that somebody drastically overpays for some reason, and absent someone offering something insane, i think they hold onto him.
i also dont consider ryan "elite", but he is in that next group of good, young, 30 plus goal wingers, under control for a little longer with a good cap hit.
the 11th and coburn for him is a deal i think you guys would win. |

eh, the flyers have a bunch of talented young forwards and a dearth of high end prospects in their system. ryan (imo) is just an unnecessary luxury. sure it would be great to add him, but not at that high a cost. i think they're better off not depleting their d corps and prospect pool for that kind of an asset |

when you lock in, you lose. only possible exception is when you are adding a final piece. flyers haven't been in a moses malone type situation by any stretch. |

yea but the blue jackets had to move nash and he had a NTC which is why his asking price was lowered substantially. we still gave them 2 top-6 forwards, our top prospect, and a 1st round pick for him.

ehh not so sure we can say the ducks are that much of a small market team anymore. we said that about the predators but they matched the weber offer sheet. |

assuming that secondary trade is a smart one, i think that puts the flyers in a better overall position going forward though. i get the hesitancy to move a first rounder, but its not as though you are moving it for an over the hill veteran. ryan is young enough to be part of the core for the long haul |
