it was just a conservative estimate. i'm well aware that 1.5 is high. i'd rather lean to the high side than low side when guessing a salary in this situation - FlyerMike18
ok gotcha |

RIGHT NOW our top 6 are:
Kimmo-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Grossmann-Mezzy
I doubt it stays that way, but i wouldnt be surprised at all to see Gus at #7. KIM Flyers might only have space for 2 extra players. Gervais cant be sent down b/c of one way contract and other things. Gus could still be sent down. - FLYERSROCK!
gervais can be sent down. both gervais and gus would be subject to waivers if sent down i'm fairly certain. gus would actually get claimed (and will likely be making enough that part of his cap hit would stay with the flyers if he made it) |

It would be ideal to have Meszaros but he's been broken a while now.

I agree with you. But as I've said repeatedly. Nothing the Flyers did this off season would shock me. - MJL
I said maybe a week or so ago that at some point, Paul Holmgren's temper was going to catch up to him and he was going to be straight po'd that they missed the playoffs.
Rumors are rumors; I don't know who to believe.
But one thing I know is this: The last time Paul Holmgren was REALLY MAD was when the Flyers got embarrassed by the Bruins in the playoffs. Result: Mike Richards and Jeff Carter got moved within 30 minutes of each other.
Think about this year. The Flyers didn't make the playoffs. And Holmgren went off on the players about their effort and willingness to compete.
And, most tellingly, he didn't fire the coach.
That kinda tells me, just me, that if Homer's still seething about missing the playoffs, or if he's gotten more sour as time passed...well, guess what?
It'll be players that will get moved. The only three people who would be safe are Claude Giroux, Mark Streit and Kimmo Timonen, because Holmgren's working on Giroux's extension, Streit just got one and Holmgren thinks Timonen's the toughest SOB the Flyers have.
Everybody else...man, I don't know. This many rumors out there...it might get kinda hot next week, because with that much smoke, somebody's dreams might get set on fire. |

Gustafsson is a lock for the top 6. Unless he plays his way out of it in camp.
Gervais can be sent down if he clears waivers. One way contract has nothing to do with it. Gustafsson would also have to clear waivers to be sent down

Gervais can be sent down without going through waivers?? No way lol...
idk how that system fully works, im sure we'll find out once Gus resigns. Gus is way better than Gervais but Flyers idt would want Gervais to be claimed.
I know you have to have atleast 20 skaters. if flyers go with 12/8 or 13/7, because idk if they'll have room for 21 skaters+ 2 goalies
also Pronger cant be LTIR'ed till day 2 of the RS, so the Flyers have to have atleast 4,941,429 of cap space opening day, or they'll be penalized i believe (not 100% on this) |

sigh...
i just posted 6 dmen that are ahead of gus on the depth charts... if Grossmann and Mezzy are healthy and ready to go they'd healthy scratch one of those 2??? absolutely NOT! |

I have to agree with you how long was Carter rumored to be traded? How bout the Luke Schenn for JVR? A lot of smoke on a few guys likely hood of ones in question Read, Bryz, Coby and others not being here is realistic.

Not true that they have to wait until Day 2 of the regular Season to place a player on LTIR.

That's good to know. so if they put Gervais on waivers, he clears and gets sent down none of that counts against the cap? |

You posted who you think is ahead of him on the depth chart. I'm telling you that unless Gustafsson is traded, or is so horrible that he plays his way out of it. Gustafsson is in the lineup on opening night if he's not hurt.

In my reply, I said if he's not hurt, or hasn't been traded. He will be in the lineup. I suspect it will be one of the other defenseman, who is on another team. |

sather is notorious for waiting to sign them late in july after all the UFA madness so he knows how much he has to work with. |

Gus is excellent. No idea why you're down on him. Look at his +/- going back. He gets it done. He was slowed early last year by injuries, but he is a key piece moving forward. |
