I dont think coburn can move you up 6 spots...Im assuming you are proposing a trade with CAR? - PhillaBully
Rumour has it Car is willing to move their pick if they receive a top 4 dman as part of the deal. I've heard Coburn + Read + if needs be another prospect for 5th pick. In that scenario we'd have the 5th + the 11th. A more realistic approach would probably include the 11th going back. |

One thing is certain, we are going to have at least 1 D man hurt at all times. That said I'd keep Mez as my #7 to start the year. Rotate him in every few games to keep the rust off and sit my most injured (or Timmonen) occaisonally. Problem is he's a large cap hit for a #7. - FlyersGrace
I feel we have never used Mez properly. I know everyone pencils him in at 5th or 6th, but he's fully capable of playing top line minutes when Healthy. It's just when he's been healthy he's been stuck behind Pronger, Kimmo and Carle. PP, PK, Hitting, Scoring. His power play numbers with Ottawa were impressive for a rookie and while he had struggles in Tampa, so did Luke Schenn struggle at that point in his career with Toronto as well, so do most Defensemen. Of all of our players (including Streit) the guy I would lay the most odds on to actually take over for Pronger & Kimmo IS Meszaros. That's why I hate the idea of moving him. I feel it's another Pat Sharp, Mike Richards or Bobrovsky that's about to happen. My only hope is that the return is closer to the Mike Richards level than the Sharp trade. |

I'm not. The proposed trade centered around Coburn +11 for 5. - jmatchett383
it was implied. I dont think coburn + 11th can do it. |

I never brought it up,it wasn't my proposal. I was just pointing out what the proposal was. I agree, I think it would take more. |

Unfortunately, there's little market for him right now. |

6 years ago today, the Flyers traded a 1st round pick for the rights to Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell. I was looking through the blog archive and here is what Bill had to say about the two all those years ago:
1) Timonen-- a rock solid defenseman who will add a lot to the Philadelphia blueline-- is 32 years old and the team will be taking a $6.3 million cap hit on him until he's 38. He's worth that right now. Will he be worth that five and six years out?
2) Hartnell is a heart-and-soul type forward who will help Philadelphia-- one of the poorest puck possession teams in the NHL--on the forecheck and add something to the second powerplay unit. The real question with him is whether he's a $4 million player.

I think Homer is over a barrel trading Mez. He's selling low on a guy with a $4M cap hit. He'll be lucky to get a 7th round pick. - johndewar

Unfortunately the guy is made out of glass. I don't think anyone questions his skills, its his ability to stay healthy at this point. |

That's still a heck of a trade. End of the line Forsberg for Parent, Upshall, Timonen, and Hartnell. |

@tpanotchCSN - Flyers would move Matt Read in a deal for Bernier. But Kings would likely want Jakub Voracek as main piece - speed, scoring. |

I actually think for Flyers to get to 5, they are going to have to include Edmonton. Both Edmonton and Carolina have said they are willing to trade down. So I would assume Meszaors, 11th, and 2nd to Edmonton for 7th overall, and Coburn and 7th overall for 5th overall and the rights to Corvo. |

Here, LA, take all of the LOLs.
You can't have Jake Voracek for your backup goaltender.
Enjoy the 2nd round pick when he gets an offer sheet! |
