Here's a little factoid: Babe Ruth's father ran a tavern in Baltimore, it's location, the now center field at Camden Yards. - Ryan_Wilson
I thought Babe Ruth was an orphan......
EDIT: Nevermind, it was some sort of boarding school he was sent to. For some reason I thought it was an orphanage. |

If he agreed to sign a deal without a NMC/NTC, I'm OK with it The NMC would kill us. If he wants to be a new Brian Campbell, I'll gladly take it. - Orpik44
I would possibly balk at the NMC... I liked the gentleman's idea of a time dependent NMC... maybe it kicks in after 2-3 years... that way if we grow a replacement we could move him, for still good value. |

thank you! It's really nice, amazingly well kept up, good location. My brothers looking right now in the same price range and I really lucked out. People wanted to move quickly. - ChrisMS

Incidentally, I recently learned (i.e. was corrected) that factoid is "a questionable or spurious (unverified, false, or fabricated) statement." Which brings me to the question, "Is this confirmed, or the stuff of legend?" |

Oh boy
Ball in Letang's court
@drosennhl: Shero would like to have an agreement in principle for an extension with Letang by the draft. He called it one of several pressure points. |

Not surprising considering if he's felt it will be at the draft. |

That part isn't surprising but I didn't expect there to be much talking because Shero said they met but had nothing else to say today. The countdown begins now.
The oh boy part is more of a joke. He didn't quite say anything like that with Staal. They felt publicly and privately that he'd be back. Doesn't seem that way for Letang. |

No. Not saying that. We knew that as soon as they did exit interviews and locker cleanouts. Plenty figured ate be the case before then. |

Chris Davis = Reincarnated Babe Ruth? - canadianpenfan
Davis has 26 bombs this year. The second one today was ridiculous.
There are a few Brady Andersons in this year's crop. Guys with little power before and now all the sudden ... Dom Brown in Philly; Gomez in Milwaukee and a few more.

|
|

He's evening things out now. This year he was awesome. The first he was just OK and last year horrible. If he can maintain his level of play next season, I'll agree with you - Orpik44
JMO, his resurgence has alot to do with what side he played on. He was successful in NJ playing on the same side he played this year. He played opposite side the previous two years I believe.

What Anaheim need is Kris Letang. If we can't reach a deal with him, we'd love to take on B.Ryan's contract.
Right now we'd like to re-sign him for $6-6.5M per BUT he's reportedly asking for $7-7.5M.
Perry & Getzlaf = $16,875 + Letang @ $7,000 = $23,875.
Malkin & Crosby = $18,200 + Letang @ $6,000 = $24,200.
Anaheim is in a good situation to add a defenseman of his caliber and would be set with 3 All Stars and Team Canada members.
Off course it would take more than B.Ryan to get Letang. |

Exactly. Didn't hit that way in Texas(another hitters ballpark) or the last year and a half in Baltimore. He may be strong but his eyes aren't historically that good. I call bs. |

Hard to blame a guy who basically is being told that he could top out at $8 million per season on his next deal for keeping mum. Even if it means he says something none of us believe just to shrug off the questions. |

According to some sources, Ruth's father once owned a pub located in what is now center field of the stadium

If he doesn't stay, I would love to see Shero turn him into B.Ryan/Sbisa or Gibson.
E.Kane and L.Eriksson tops my list as well. |

I didn't realize it was there but I was aware that he owned the pub. A lot of extra attention paid to Ruth around here. Same for Edgar Allen Poe. Neither should be as pumped up here if you ask me. |
