I'd want to revisit it after 3.... We know Bennett is top 6 material... maybe Kunitz is still here or his replacement... I dunno about paying a 3rd line winger 3+ million when he's 37/38. Duper has been consistent but every player has his expiry date - nelson911
I don't see 4 years. Shero doesn't have much history of giving that duration of contract out. 3 tops. |

If the Lightning were to buy out Malone's terrible contract i'd take him. I've always enjoyed his interviews between periods. - cranktheradio
That very well may happen. He's productive enough when he's not injured but that's been a problem recently. Also a big overpay as you said. |

...he even called Sid to say the deal with the Pens was already done...and after it fell through Sid was reportedly VERY mad about the whole thing... |

I'm pretty sure any other club will try a low ball on the Pens knowing they are trading for his rights (eventually) - Alexzanki
If you could pick one thing that Ray Shero does best, it would be getting value for puck moving defensemen he has traded. |

If Nashville get's into this it'd be very, very surreal. I've heard it mentioned dozens of times by guys like Steve Mears that Shero had dreams of getting Weber and Letang together. If they want to give up the #4 pick and a prospect or 2 I'd be intrigued. - HopintheCordoba
Do you think Shero could possibly pry Josi away from Nashville? Kid is a stud defensively, and is locked up at a good cap hit for the next 7 years. |

Of course. Every conversation will have a touch of that in there. However, you'd be crazy to think that 1 of 29 teams won't come in with a serious, fair offer. Staal got that and there is no way Carolina should have honored that deal. Staal basically said he'd sign there. They couldv'e waited a year or missed out. No team will want to do that on Letang. Someone will pony up. |

Shero won't give away Letang for a low ball offer. He knows that the longer he holds out, teams will begin to bid against one another. |

Pens shouldn't give dypuis four years. Length and amount shouldn't hold back pens on letang... (7 mil). But the no movement clause maybe should. I think, much to the disagreement of others on here, that letang should be kept over others including Martin or orpik. But if pouliot develops we should have at least some options of moving him. Would love scuds...and wouldnt mind briere at all |

Briere is a great person but I don't think he is a good fit at all for the Pens.
He is best on the power play but the Pens don't need him for that.
Takes a lot of penalties and isn't good defensively.
He is a highly skilled player though.
He would be best as a #2 center on a team that could surround him w/ strong wingers.
Think he will end up w/ NYR, NYI or NJ. Just guessing though. |

I doubt it. Only because they just locked him up. Why move him now for Letang? It'll also probably cost the #4 pick which would be Barkov most likely. Seems a bit much in their case. Unless they could find a way to give him up and only give up a 2nd rounder or 1st next year I don't think it would happen.
I won't rule anything out though. These things can be crazy. Shero could demand he be included like he did with Sutter. |

I think we'd trade Niskanen to clear cap space before we trade Martin or Orpik. I'd love to see Letang sticking for a fair value. It would be a no brainer to re-up the guy. |

I think that the return will be too high to pass up on with Letang. Plus, as you stated, the NMC is a killer. |

How about Craig Smith or Patrick Hornqvist and their 4th + some d-man? |

He especially wouldn't give up Letang for cheap this summer. He's still signed for another season for good value on the cap. |

I don't know anything about Smith but Hornqvist and the 4th is good... I dunno if Nashville lets go of him though |

I seriously do not see Briere going to the Pens. If anything.. it will be one of the Rags, Isles, or Devils. He currently resides in New Jersey (about half hour, 45 minutes outside Philly), which is also about an hour and a half from NY/North Jersey. |

My random trade idea of the day:
Letang & Fleury to Florida
2nd overall pick, Gudbranson, Markstrom and a prospect |

I'd stock the forward cupboard, I don't about anymore fringe NHL d-man, Pens have a lot Ellis is kinda a regular but he's not really a top 4 guy. |
