This rumor doesn't surprise me at all.
1) Even if the Ducks AREN'T talking Bobby Ryan, the rumor would still exist.
2) Ryan just doesn't "make things happen".
Don't get me wrong. You never turn your back on 30 goals per year. And a couple of those are usually highlight reel goals.
But much of the time, he's the classic "floater". He doesn't engage physically. He doesn't make his team mates better. He doesn't make things happen. He's just there to clean up the garbage.
Look how many goals Mat Beleskey got playing with Perry-Getzlaf this year, and you'll realize that Ryan's totals may be inflated.
Look how innefective Ryan has been in anchoring his OWN line, when the Ducks tried to do that.
And given the Ducks rather poor showing in the playoffs this year....and Bobby's invisibility.
The rumor had to happen. (We'll see about the actual trade....) |

What is the deal with Hiller and Fasth?
Fasth was killing it all season and looking great... Anaheim in the playoffs as a #2 seed I think.. and Hiller is starting every game?
Is Hiller getting traded? - JVince11
The issue is Fasth was resigned right after winning his first ten games. There's no way to tell if he can keep that play going in a full season. After that and getzlaf and perry, we have all sorts of budget problems. Since Hiller has one more year on his contract he seems to be the odd one out.. even though I think he's a much better goalie than Fasth. In the playoffs Hiller started because Fasth was injured. Either way one of the two is expendable with the goalie depth we have. |

ahhhhhhh.. I didn't know that Fasth was hurt....
Any interest in Miller's 1 year deal... He wants to go to the West Coast..
Miller, Ennis, and a 2nd for Ryan and Hiller.
maybe another prospect or mid pick?

I don't think the ducks need another goalie. If they did I would be all for Miller. And besides, I'd want more than ennis and a second for ryan |

What about trading him back home to NJ for Volchenkov and swapping 1st round picks? I still think Fowler can be a great offensive d-man if you can just find a good mean stay at home guy to be on his side. Plus the 9th pick in this draft can still be a great player. |

Last summer the asking price was Foligno, Ennis, and a 2nd rounder for Ryan. |

I mentioned that in the blog. They are making moves to make space and the Ducks would probably have to eat some of Ryan's salary. - Steve Palumbo
I think ryan is a good chip to sell right now...dont know why they would be that desperate and have to take salary back to make this deal.
i think if they publicly put ryan on the block (and mean it this time) a good bidding war would start and they can get what they ask for him and not have to take back a bad contract or hold some |

To be honest I think Ryan improved this year. He may not have scored as much but he actually played much better defense. That could be attributed to playing with Kopitar during the lockout but who knows. I think that may even make him more valuable. I have no idea how to judge that trade wise though. |

What if we do you one better...
Vanek for Ryan and your first.
We keep 2.0M in salary of Vanek.. that way he would be making the same dollar amount as Ryan was. He has a cap hit of 7.1M but an actual salary of 6.4M. |

I don't think Vanek is that much better than Ryan to fetch a 1st. Especially on an expiring contract. |

Vanek for Ryan and a first I would never do that. Not that you where asking me but seriously? Maybe Vanek for Ryan straight up but Vanek is older and has only 1 year left on a higher contract. |

yea... i meant as like the parameters of the trade... but I didn't say that...
it would be like Vanek and Sekera for that.. or Vanek and a 2nd of ours for that. but yes I see your point..... Ryan is only signed for 2 years FYI. |

I would do that but to be honest I don't know if its a fair swap for you guys I think the value of the 9th pick drops a bit when you trade it with A-train he is burned out from all the shot blocking and to slow to hit anyone. He does make a good pass but its always to the opposition and usually leads to a break away or 2-1 lol. Does Ryan have any say in where he goes ? |

Id say thats getting fair. maybe buffalo would have to to toss in a kicker or up grade that second to a first but thats a good trade in the works there. |

I hadn't realised he had only 2 years left. I think you guys are best suited trading Vanek to a team like Nashville for their first maybe Vanek and your later first for their first. If our Offensive prospects cupboard wasn't empty I would trade the 9th for him but we desperately need our pick not having a first next year. |

That's a good question.
I obviously don't have any insight. But I'd guess that the Ducks might try to accomodate his desires. He has been a "good little soldier", and may deserve that much.
Given nearly equal offers.....maybe he'd be given a choice. Just hope the Ducks are smart enough to get multiple bids before jumping in with both feet.
(Still not convinced this is more than a bored rumor-monger who needed to spice up his summer). |

It could very well be but non the less its given us something to talk about and I know from Devils fan stand point there hasn't been much at all to talk about since nothing really has gotten done yet ( kind of getting worried lol ) but it has given me something to talk about and ponder he is from NJ but I feel that because he has openly stated he would like to be traded to Philly ? or has he I cant exactly recall but if so I would think he wouldn't want to go to the Devils if he wants to play on a rival of ours those are my thoughts though. |
