It could very well be but non the less its given us something to talk about and I know from Devils fan stand point there hasn't been much at all to talk about since nothing really has gotten done yet ( kind of getting worried lol ) but it has given me something to talk about and ponder he is from NJ but I feel that because he has openly stated he would like to be traded to Philly ? or has he I cant exactly recall but if so I would think he wouldn't want to go to the Devils if he wants to play on a rival of ours those are my thoughts though.

He basically said, I believe last offseason, that he didn't care if he was traded. And then he said later in that same sequence that he would feel very comfortable playing in Philadelphia, and didn't mention any other teams.

Ok so that makes me think that if you make a statement like that you don't want to get moved to a rival of the team you wanted to get traded to. If you want to play for the Flyers chances are you aren't going to want to get traded and have to hate them and play them regularly. I actually thought the Cobourn and the 11 is a decent deal. I must be in the minority from the looks of the comments on this blog but I think he is a solid D with easily more then 6 years left in him and those are very like 6 good years instead of continuing to add guys like Souray. Plus you can get a Zadarov/Ristolinon D man at 11 maybe if Nurse or a Forward if you like. but from Flyers point I got to ask why move him and roll with 2 plus 35 D in your top 4 ? So for the Ducks I like it not sure I do so much for the Flyers. Value is good but the needs of the Flyers don't let this trade work.

SHHH you are supposed to be on our team!

I still say C.Mac's rights have value. Guy scores 20 goals a year and isn't all that expensive. probably can resign him for 3M a year no prob.

I really don't wanna see Ryan traded for Coburn. Even with the pick, the deal seems a bit raw for the Ducks.

Flyers get a 26 year old winger who wants to play with them and would be great with Giroux, but the Ducks get an underachieving blueliner and the 11th overall pick.

The Ducks already have tons of young kids waiting in the wings (Etem, Palmieri, Maroon, Vatanen, Lindholm, Gibson, Bobkov) and trading for a pick seems like an investment in the future that we already have.

Plus, Coburn doesn't seem like a good fit for Anaheim. Too Allen-y and we'd end up losing Lovejoy to make room for him or something...

I guess you haven't seen Coburn play much. He is easily the best d man when he is on his game (especially in the playoffs) He is 6'5 but he is always one of the fastest skaters on the ice and he has a huge poke check. He can shutdown top players when he is on his game. He had an off year this year due to being expected to carry a more offensive role and being paired with tools like Bruno Gervais. He was often hung out to dry and I'd hate to see this trade happen, steal for the Ducks.

Steal? The Flyers get a young winger that wants to play with them and has never scored less than 30 goals a season except the shortened one. Sure, he's streaky, but I think he still has years left and a great addition to any team. No steal, even with the 11th.

crossing into a whole new level there... It is very usual that teams look to trade D-Men with a description like you mention above.

I was just thinking about how great of a trade that would be. Only problem in my mind is With Getzlaf and Perry signed long term, Letang would only be of real value next year until he asks for an 8year 7mill contract....at least if Anaheim goes with a young up and coming kid...they can play around with more cap space for the rest of the team

Here is the thing about Coburn...

His plateau is pretty much already realized. In fact he will soon be on the decline.
Bobby Ryan is still yet to peak and will stay at a high level for much longer than Coburn will be able to.

Also, Ryan will play on the 1st line with Giroux and Vorachek

Coburn will certainly be behind Fowler, Beauchamin and Sbisa

How about a monster trade...Ryan, Hiller, Lindholm, Rakell, and a 1st, to Colorado for the 1st overall and Paul Stastny?

Defenseman on average are worth more than forwards, and Coburn is only 28, he's not in his mid 30's. Still if I'm the Flyers I don't give up the 11th overall.

After reading all of the replies there is still one thing I don't get...Why would Philly do this? To make Bob Clarke happy? Pronger is done, Meszaros is perpetually injured, Timmonen and Streit are as old as dirt and Homer is going to trade one of his better defenseman for more offense? Is he trying to turn the Flyers into the Eastern conference version of the Oilers?
And to the Caps poster who offered Carlson for Ryan, yes please!!!

And Steve, I laughed out loud when you suggested that Anaheim is going to take back some of Ryan's salary. Coburn's cap hit is $4.5 mil, that's plenty coming back.

What Anaheim need is Kris Letang. If we can't reach a deal with him, we'd love to take on B.Ryan's contract.

Right now we'd like to re-sign him for $6-6.5M per BUT he's reportedly asking for $7-7.5M.

Perry & Getzlaf = $16,875 + Letang @ $7,000 = $23,875.

Malkin & Crosby = $18,200 + Letang @ $6,000 = $24,200.

Anaheim is in a good situation to add a defenseman of his caliber and would be set with 3 All Stars and Team Canada members.

Off course it would take more than B.Ryan to get Letang.

Please don't let this happen. Nothing against Ryan, would love to have him, but not for the 11th and coburn. If its gonna cost more than mezsaros and next years first rounder please just walk away homer. I'm not convinced we should even give up anything for a player who (financially) doesn't fit into Anaheims long term plan, and will have us on his short list of teams to sign with when he becomes a FA after the 14/15 season.

Jetsfan6 trade proposal that helps both teams....

Jets trade D Dustin Byfuglien

For

Ducks F Bobby Ryan

Similar cap hits and a definite hockey trade.

No Hemsky for Crosby trade proposal here...

- jetsfan6

Jets need Wayne Simmonds, not Ryan.

I guess you haven't seen me hate on letang yet. For the millionth time, why would the ducks want more offensive d when they already have fowler and vatanen? If I'm trading a star winger I want something the team actually needs- a shutdown d which letang is the polar opposite
