Russo reports that the Wild might be in the mix dealing away Clutterbuck or Konopka.
I'd have interest in both.
LeBrun reporting the Flyers I guess are still in on Bernier, but will only buy out Bryzgalov if they have a plan B to fall back on (as we all kind of know)
I've been thinking about Vinny from Tampa if he is bought out. - flyer_nutter
i posted earlier that dreger on NHL net still thinks bryz is CBO'd. |

I think it's nearly a given at this point. There will be cheaper options out there and the Flyers will pursue that. With Briere out and Pronger never going to be healthy there really is no other player worth using the buyout on. |

Which is not to say that using both buyouts is a requirement or necessarily a good thing for every team out there. |

#impatience
I dont disagree, but look at who runs this team. Bryz was brought in to solve an issue instantly. Obviously that has not been the case. I'll bet they go back to being cheap at the position. |

as much as i like briere, he no longer fit from purely a hockey perspective. would have been nice to get something for him, but the NMC would prevent that anyway. |

The #Flyers have $9.7M more in 2013-14 defense spending than any other #NHL team at the moment.

Granted, that includes Pronger and a defenseman to be moved sooner than later. Be it Mez or Coburn. (at least I believe one of them will be moved) |

You can't be serious. The 2004 playoff run was lead by Keith Primeau. He was playing a checking role and really stepped up when some of are stars couldn't. He adjusted his game when he probably wasn't the same scorer he was in years past. He wasn't meant to be a checker but he became one. He did what he had to do as a Captain for the Flyers. Solid hitter, good faceoff man, sound defensively and could chip in offensively. Probably not the best skater but I liked Keith Primeau's game a lot. I completely respect him as one of our former Captains. - dingo8urbaby
I think what made him a special, especially in that era, as Captain, was his strong leadership...he set the tone on the ice with yeoman's work and also demanded a lot from his teammates...he wouldn't let them slack off...he held "his" players accountable. Oh, and man, that guy could fight...he didn't fight all that often, but when he did, he was usually dominant. |

that includes $$ for pronger of course. unless there's a productive deal out there for coby, i think that mez will be moved for a song. |

Im not understanding all the Coburn hate.

Unless the #11 pick is traded for a first line two way stud dman or to move up they have to keep the pick. I would consider trading down for 2 first round picks. |

i think he bounces back next year
if he's paired with streit i think it'll be good for both of them. let coburn focus on defense and while streit starts the breakout |

This is the Flyers we're talking about. Not gonna happen.
And the 11th isn't getting a top D man unless you include someone like B Schenn in the trade.
Here's an idea. Every top D man we chase from the 29 other teams was drafted at some point. How about we use the 11th to draft our own?

I agree, wholeheartedly.
I think that Coburn is the ideal partner for Streit. If Meszaros was healthy, maybe I;d agree with a Coburn move...but I just have no confidence in Mesz staying healthy |

that article you posted a few days ago was good
really made it clear that a good deal of Streit's struggles last year came as a result of him having to prop up a sub-par partner. |

I think by many people's charts it'll be hard to argue the BPA @ 10-12 isn't going to be a D man. |

That was a good read. I do think a lot is made of his +/-, but that's such a flawed stat. Coburn bounces back, he and Streit are a nice, solid second pair. Streit will never be confused for Rod Langway, or even Kimmo Timonen. But he can be an adequate defensive guy |

Then keep the pick. Need some top tier new blood in the minors. |

+/- is a very telling stat. You do have to make adjustments, but it's a great starting point. Give me a team with every player a plus every game and you go undefeated. |
