I concur. Doom and gloom are for the attention- and revenue-via-clicks-seeking sensationalist media and their most gullible readers/listeners. - Flyskippy

You can resign your own players for 8 years. Free agents from other teams for only 7. |

So Ek's rumor chart doesn't have us very high in the Bernier running.
I'm beginning to think Bill was right and we are just being used as a stalking horse. |

Best defense is an offense that never leaves the other teams zone.
EDIT
Especially when backchecking. Just take too long to get back to the o zone - nails
The theory of the best defense is an offense that never leaves the other teams zone has already been proven wrong. In the early 80's the Edmonton Oilers had BY FAR the leagues most potent offense. Gretzky, Messier, Anderson, Coffey, Kurri, they were a scoring machine and led the league in goals in 81-82 and 82-83. However defensively they were awful, as many of their skill players (much like the Penguins of today) refused to back check.
In 82, they were upset in the division playoffs by the LA Kings. In 83 their powerful offense carried them to the finals where they met the experienced and extremely disciplined NY Islanders. The Islanders played hard in all 3 zones and completely dominated the Oilers, sweeping the series and out scoring them 17-6.
The following season, the Oilers finally bought into being more responsible defensively. While they continued to score goals in bunches, they tightened up in their own end and went on to win 4 cups in 5 years.
The lesson to be learned is simple. No matter how talented a team may be, without a total team commitment to defense as well as offense, you aren't going to win championships. |

Nope, no way in poop are they going to trade Coots for Bernier when they wouldn't give him up for Weber. Most of the Philly media blows. Bill's the only one I trust. So be sure of your sources.
Sure I'd like Bernier but we aren't talking Lundquist here... He's got potential. Great. So does my grandmother.

Speaking of ridiculous looks... What is with all the neck beards on the blackhawks? Can they not grow hair on their faces? Or did they all lose bets? Seriously next game count how many neck beards you see. |

I'm not mad at Bryz. He's a good goalie, being paid like a great one. He's (reportedly) a distraction in the locker room, and as a fan I am often embarassed by the grade school arguments he gets into with our media. Shame on them both.
I dislike having a player on my team who is consistently laughed at on a national level. Just me I guess.
Take away the contract and his off ice antics and he's a good player. |
