Leino still has 3 years left to make that signing come out okay. Myers has 6 years left to make that look good. - theblueandgold
Why isnt scott bolded? Hes a stud goalscoring machine. |

Brought in as an enforcer that didnt lose a single fight (hockeyfights.com user voting)... promptly loses his first Sabres fight, and 2 of his first 3. |

Here's a topic, be as realistic as possible where do you see Vanek and Miller ending up and for what kind of return?
I say Miller to the Caps for a player and a prospect and Vanek to St.Louis for a player, prospects and pick |

Vanek: Washington (the deadline deal that went dead IMO)
Return: Backstrom in some sort of mega deal, or more realistically, Laich, Johansson and 21st pick
Miller: honestly no idea |

I think that deal that almost happened at the deadline when the caps media was told not to miss the presser is something that is being revisited and funny how Darcy and McPhee were seen talking on the cbc broadcast |

John Scott sucks. He has no business being in the NHL. The enforcer role is all but dead. There's guys that are actually good at playing hockey that can drop the gloves now.
Darcy's fault that he lost a fight? No. Still a poor signing to me. But the money is marbles, so its a wash. |

No way Vanek is traded without getting a first rounder back, and St. Louis doesn't have a first rounder. I think Vanek to winnepig for 13th and burmistrov. |

Haha, Scott Peters and Ray would have been deadly. Similar to when pitt puts sid malkin and neal together. |

I heard the deal was Stafford for a 2nd, when that broke through McPhee went with the Nashville deal. |

There's no way a Backstrom-Vanek type deal was being discussed, it was probably for Stafford. Those kinds of deals happen in the off-season and I'm not sure how trading away Backstrom makes there team any better. |

I had a feeling we wouldn't buy out Leino. That would be like Darcy admitting that he made a mistake. I don't hate keeping him. When he was healthy he was one of the best players on the team this past season. |

We can always buy him out next year, and why should we buy him out? He played good ehen he was in the lineup and we dont have cap problems. Id rather buy out players for other teams and get assets. |

I would be open to using 1 buyout to acquire something we want from another team. I'd save the last one for after this season, because if a) Leino is injured the bulk of the season again or b) he plays most of the season but is ineffective, we have to buy him out next season. |

I understand that you are not happy with that article.
However, this mentality that we have as Sabres fans have to change!
Darcy is TOXIC to this team, he is going to do whatever he can just to save his job!
Do we really want a GM here that is going to do whatever just to save his job?
We need a GM to make this team better, and Darcy is not that GM.
And, after reading that article, I agree with Sully 100% as well! - Sabresfan88
The city of Buffalo only knows failure. Buffalo surrounds itself with it, wallows in it, makes up curses to excuse it. And when signs of hope seem on the horizon, it finds reason to extinguish it; it's a vicious cycle. And yes, Darcy should to go. He's been here too long and hasn't shown much success. I don't understand why he even wants to be here. But lets be honest, the attitude of that city is poop. That's what is toxic. Its all about instant gratification. At the first sign of trouble, they'll run your ass out of town. Who would want to come here? Its almost as if Buffalo prefers failure just some they have something to female dog and complain about. Buffalo wouldn't know what to do with success. The whole city would probably just implode. It starts and ends with the community. |

Do we live in the same Buffalo? Yea our sports teams have struggled recently. Many players want to play here, good food, good schools, good fans, good community. Once players come here, they love the city. The only problem is getting them here. You cant say the city sucks just because Parise wanted to play at home and suter wanted to play with parise. |

this is crazy, but if we really wanted to acquire as many #1 picks as possible, this is how we'd do it...
Ehrhoff + for #5
Myers for #7 +
Buyout Bryzgalov for #11
Vanek for #14 & #19
Buyout DiPietro for #15
Ott for #17
Miller for #23 +
So like I said, that's crazy...
But just for fun, if this was 2003, this is who we'd have gotten w all our picks
5- Vanek
7- R.Suter
8- Coburn
11- j.Carter
14- Seabrook
15- Nilsson (who? Haha)
16- S.Bernier
17- Parise
19- Getzlaf
23- Kesler
A couple duds in there at 15 & 16...
But damn!
The rest of that looks pretty awesome |

Finally someone agrees with me! A little extreme tho!
Ehrhoff and 38 for 5th. Draft last available of the "big 5" (probably nich, small chance drouin. I think picks 1 2 4 are set in stone)
I havent given up on Myers, he was out of shape and used practice to get in shape rather then work on his skills.
8th- Best available.
Buyout brz and a third for 11th. Draft Zadorov or risto (whoever is there)
I think vanek to Jets for 13 and burmistrov. Draft domi or horvat (whoever is there)
Miller to islanders for nino and 15. Draft Pulock
16th- Draft Morin or Morrissey.
Stafford and a second rounder next year for 23. Draft Fucale.
If we can get another first rounder grab erne. Use ennis and second rounder (we have 7 in 3 years)
I would hate to trade Ott but for a top 20 pick I would. Hes not available to Ottawa or any other team in the division.
I wake up from my dream

Unfortunately it sounds more like we are staying pat at #8 and maybe even trading back from #16. I think that would be utterly depressing. |

Hahaha... Very extreme!
But I can't have the same discussion anymore for who we take at 8 & 16...
U know what's crazy though,
Any of those moves are completely possible
No way we'd do ALL of them,
But I'll kind of be upset if we don't end up w four 1sts in this draft... At least! Haha
My (semi-realistic) dream draft would have us somehow walk away with Barkov, Lindholm, Ristolainen & trade for Bernier
If that happens (or something close),
Darcy should be thrown a freaking parade!

Dont take too much into what Darcy said yesterday. He told us they wont move the 8th pick, and they may move down from 16. He couldnt come and say...I will trade Vanek Miller Ehrhoff ecetera for first rounders. I would be absolutly shocked if we dont pick at LEAST 3 first times in the first round. |
