he is getting the money that he has earned.. he hasn't earned starter money.. I think it is a good contract for both him and Buffalo. If he proves he is a starter he will cash in when this contract is up. - SabresFaninIndiana

From Adam French's Mock Draft ...
8. The Buffalo Sabres select Right Winger Valeri Nichushkin of Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL.
I know I’ll get flamed for this, but having seen him in the MHL/KHL/KHL Playoffs/U20’s/U18’s I just don’t see this talk about him being a lock for the top-3. Consistency is the big key issue in my mind with Nichushkin. You won’t find me arguing that his raw talent and his insane speed for a guy that is 6’3/6’4 209 isn’t downright scary, but it’s consistency. I’ve gone into a whole diatribe about him before so I will spare you that. The Sabres took a gamble on Grigorenko’s mono (and dumb rumour about being 23…uggg that was brutally moronic) and I think they would love to add a winger with his size, as we’ve seen the Sabres recent draft tendencies are towards bigger forwards (Girgensens(6’2)/Grigorenko(6’3)/Armia(6’3) and I think they really want to get away from the stigma of the small, soft team they were under “the core.” I just want to add that his statement that he will go to the "North America" is only going to the NHL, he will not transfer to the CHL or the AHL which he could do as a European player (See Hampus Lindholm and Tomas Tatar), if he isn’t in the NHL next year, he will be in Dynamo Moskva enjoying his 5 million dollar salary.

me too.. and until after the draft when we know if Miller is still on the team that is the stance I am taking.. they should be able to get a 1st for him and that would be something nice to have for a rebuilding team |

If they get a 1st for a guy they probably can't re-sign next season I'd be ecstatic. |

Even a first in next years draft would work. |

I think it should be possible.. maybe we throw in a 3rd or something if needed but I think they can get a 1st. |

Dont want to be that guy bu, I just feel a massive let down coming.
~We draft 2 players who dont have an impact next year
~We keep Vanek at Miller
~Both walk at the end of the year
~Owner states GM did everything he could to get these guys signed but cant force people to stay. |

are you suggesting that Vanek is going to move in with Miller..
I wouldn't doubt it if the first happens. I don't think we will keep both but I have a feeling at least one of them starts the season in buffalo.. Vanek could be a big deadline deal type of guy.. |

Does anyone think that Enroth getting backup money means we are keeping Miller at least until the trade deadline? - Pierceme69
Yes, 99% chance Miller will start's the season in Buffalo.
Vanek is 50/50. |

I think Vanek is gone first. He has no choice where they send him. It's the contradictory info that bugs me. Darcy claims he waiting to hear Vanek's intentions and hopes it's before the draft; meanwhile, Vanek's agent said yesterday that he hasn't heard from Darcy. ?????
On Miller, he did remark that his NTC will not interfere with the Sabre's plans.

I don't have a problem keeping both Miller and Vanek, doubt it happens. The GM is the problem and it's sad our savior of an owner can't see it, no way this team should be in this position. |

I think Sully's article was spot on. The owner has an arrogance about him that I find annoying. |

I liked it when Sully and CO. went off on Ted and Darcy in that press conference, most don't agree with me but that's ok. Pegula just looks lost and he's in trouble if he thinks Darcy will show him the way. |

Owner could not keep said GM if this were to happen, he let a couple other high profile guys walk and that went over like a fart in an elevator. Both will either sign or be traded by the next trade deadline. |

Sure he could. He'll tell you it's not Darcy's fault and he made billions running an entirely unrelated business so you should just shut up. |

Vanek: Washington (the deadline deal that went dead IMO)
Return: Backstrom in some sort of mega deal, or more realistically, Laich, Johansson and 21st pick
Miller: honestly no idea - CaptPantalones
Both will be wearing blue and gold to start the season |

It's never Darcy's fault is it? he spends more time making excuses then he does trying to better this team, Darcy is full of excuses and now his boy SKOLNIK can see what he's gotten himself into. Black is following the Darcy mold and comes up with some great ones as well. It's always somebody elses fault as to why we missed the playoffs or why we made a move or didn't make a move. |
