I dunno, that own goal by Fleury against the USA in the WJC final kinda backs my point - chompsey
It had nothing to do with Crosby, Malkin Letang etc . Fleruy = 1 cup. Lu = no cup. |

Team canada playing in front of LU had nothing to do with that victory. That was all LU. - Bluechip23
Lu was fantastic in that game.
Especially after we beat Canada with Brodeur in net... |

I just find it shocking. when you try and give an unbiased analysis people think you are hating. True hockey fans arent just homers for everything Vancouver. They appreciate all the great hockey players doesnt matter what team they play for. Nothing worse than fandom. - Bluechip23
Oh get over yourself.......I have a hard time listening to this my goalie is better than your goalie BS....merely playing with ya. Don't take yourself too seriously bud.... |

For the record I am a huge LU fan. I just think miller is a better goalie. Doesnt take away from the fact that I love lu. I am also a huge Sedin fan but if someone said who is better Datsuk or sedin I will always say Datsuk. Doesnt mean I am a hater towards the canucks. |

Florida finally gets a number 1 goalie in Luongo, a solid veteran blue liner in Ballard and can sign Raymond. Really fills a lot of needs for Florida.
Canucks get a good defensive prospect in Gudbranson. Bjugstad is a project but could be a good 3rd or 4th liner. And Florida's first round pick could possibly turn into a good player but it's not a guarantee. Both teams benefit and fill their needs and it's fair. - hankthetank
Only a Canuck fan could rationalize something like this.
You're trading a player that Florida already dumped in Ballard with a terrible cap hit plus Luongo - A CAP HIT OF $5M PLUS UNTIL 2022 and the chance to pay pro dollars for an over rated player Raymond for a probable future star at #2, a tier 1 prospect in Bjugstad, and a solid project - all 3 with entry level or low dollar deals.... and the deal wouldn't put them anywhere near contention.
It would save Gillis ass though.
I can see why you love it though. Kind of like trading the gunk in your garbage disposal for a couple diamonds.
Tallon, upon suggesting that deal to ownership, would be fired immediately and probably sent for a psych evaluation.
Get a calculator and read up on the salary cap. |

Interesting. Anything else the panthers should throw in? - hugefemale dog77
Team merchandising rights for the next century.
Maybe citrus profits for the state of Florida for the next decade.

Rofl... why don't we take Booth back while we're at it? You can keep Ballard as far away from Florida as possible. Raymond is intriguing.. but Bjugstad won't be traded at all. Howden maybe. |

I don't know how Ian thinks Miller is worse than Luongo. It's hard to be a canuck fan and a realist, but it can be done. quite a few do it in the comments section, but not all of us.
Back to the point. Miller and Luongo are both great goalies who are looking for a change, the only real difference is that Luongo's contract is going to make it very hard to get a return, teams will pay through the nose for Miller. - Troutback
Exactly. Even if Miller plays great his new team ends up extending his current deal around the same price based on the current market. If he does not they simply let him walk or sign him for less. You marry Luongo's deal for 10 years - one way or the other. |

Guaranteed Bernier fetches more than Lu, and there are numerous trades of young goaltenders to back that up. As for Couturier I doubt he goes but Holmgren has been known to make some big moves so maybe he does if more than Bernier comes back.
Lu on the other hand honestly will probably fetch nothing except years of free $ from the Nucks and a job elsewhere. Noone is trading for that contract, and if they were they would have already. Leafs aren't sending Gardner, Cats aren't sending Bjustad or anyone else. It's a bad contract on a team that has ALREADY ANNOUNCED they are moving forward with a different starter. If you want to play the blame game you can blame none other than Gillis for that. You don't announce that your highly paid long-term goalie is now your backup and expect to get a good return. Gillis did and look where that got him. Closer to getting his walking papers and still having your backup goaltender albatrossing your salary cap from the bench. Sorry folks, Gillis franked up this situation and there is no magic un-franking potion to save him or save this situation.
EDIT: Gillis should have taken whatever Burke was willing to offer. That was his way out but he hardballed and thus we sit here still writing about this - uf1910
You are probably correct. Now I better gets the facts out there first. I hate the Canucks. But.... Loungo is a better goalie than Bernier. There is no way anyone can dispute that. It is his contract that brings his value down. I am hoping for a buyout. Then my oilers can sign him and finally demote dubnyk to his rightful backup role. As Ufa Lu wouldn't sign with edm though. I do believe he would waive his no trade clause to come to edm though |

I'd take the Leafs current lineup, prospect chain, and cap space over this aging Nucks group, decimated prospect chain and salary cap.
As a Hawks fan, glad to see the Leafs as a playoff team again. And, if you wait a few weeks or months, you will probably end up with Lou for nothing but a 3-5 year deal for around $4m. |

Why do Vancouver fans think they will be getting blue chip prospects and 1st rounders for Lu? Teams can get him next week for nothing when he is bought out. - spliffster33
Many obviously do not. There is a group who drink from the kool aid Gillis has been mixing though.... and it is a large one.
They need to turn on him when he blows it. |
