Do you still consider Nino a NYI?

Why wouldn't I? He's under contract.

For another two weeks. I don't consider Raymond a Canuck , he has the same term left as Nino

Florida finally gets a number 1 goalie in Luongo, a solid veteran blue liner in Ballard and can sign Raymond. Really fills a lot of needs for Florida.
Canucks get a good defensive prospect in Gudbranson. Bjugstad is a project but could be a good 3rd or 4th liner. And Florida's first round pick could possibly turn into a good player but it's not a guarantee. Both teams benefit and fill their needs and it's fair.

May be the most ridiculous post in HB history, congratulations.

How long before Yzerman loses his job? He should have traded for Luongo last year.
- KB3Point0

At least 2 years probably 3 of non-playoffs for this to be considered. For the lack of results in the standings Yzerman has built the Bolts farm system from bottom 5 to top 5 which is why it would take longer than other teams with similar lack of success.

And no one has traded for Luongo b/c Gillis was asking for too much and his contract sucks worse than Vinny's. So no Yzerman shouldn't have traded for Lu last year.

I also believe that Luongo is a much better, more accomplish netminder than both of those players combined.
- IanEsplen

Oh Lord, it's like frickin' Groundhog Day around here.

It's not Luongo, Mr. Esplen.

It's the contract.

The contract.

You may want to play Lu's press conference from 20 minutes after the trade deadline if you have trouble grasping this simple concept.

He may get traded but there is just a good a chance he doesn't. The rumors of him being disgruntled are completely over blown. His agent b!tching for a trade bcs he wasn't playing in the NHL yet does not make it a forgone conclusion he is getting traded. He has publicly(as well as Snow)stated he wants to be an Islander. He had an excellent season with Bridgeport last year. He's an excellent prospect. Snow is not trading him unless he gets a good return and it certainly will not be for Luongo. I can't believe some of you guys are still going with this?

This was right after he stated that Islander fans are funny. I have no idea why these guys think they are getting top players for Luongo, they are going to wind up buying him out.

Let me guess, you think Quick is the best goalie in the league? Classic homer. Luongo has been the most consistent goalie in the league for about a decade. Look at his stats. He can take over games and singlehandedly carry a team to the playoffs and win a round or two on his own. Any hockey fan would admit he's still the best when he wants to be.

This thread has been hysterical for the last month or so. I really thought Canuck fans were more knowledgable than this?

I'm guessing we are laughing with Hank the Tank, not at him.

But you really never know.

I'm almost certain we are laughing at Mr. Esplen, not with him.

My guess is the Canucks will simply put Luongo on waivers, and hope that somebody nabs him, thus making him somebody else's problem.

Are we? He proposed Luongo for Grubdanson and Bjustad with Florida. If he was being sarcastic fine if not I'm laughing at him not with him. These guys are out of touch with the reality. Gillis single handidly destroyed any chance of trading him for anything of value. Ridiculous blunder on his part. They should be concentrating on getting that moron fired more than who they are getting for Luongo.

Sure, why not?

Komi cleared waivers - and he's on a bus right now to Buyout City.

He stated that Luongo could win a playoff series or two on his own.

He hasn't won a single playoff game in two years.

So yeah, I'm guessing he is having fun with out of town guests.

It's easy to build up a farm team when your team plummets so badly. And sorry, Luongo's $5.3M cap hit is way better than Vinny's $7.7M cap hit. Of course, you probably don't understand that because Tampa hasn't had a top tier goalie since Khabibulin left.
