I don't know how Ian thinks Miller is worse than Luongo. It's hard to be a canuck fan and a realist, but it can be done. quite a few do it in the comments section, but not all of us.

Back to the point. Miller and Luongo are both great goalies who are looking for a change, the only real difference is that Luongo's contract is going to make it very hard to get a return, teams will pay through the nose for Miller.

So you are a realist?

Guess not? What does this even mean? Define "stuff".

Well, in this particular situation, we could define "stuff" as... "sarcasm." Perhaps the word "gullible" is one you should look up while you're at it...

It's easy to build up a farm team when your team plummets so badly. And sorry, Luongo's $5.3M cap hit is way better than Vinny's $7.7M cap hit. Of course, you probably don't understand that because Tampa hasn't had a top tier goalie since Khabibulin left.

Wow ok. Lets take a look at the Bolts top 10 prospects and see where they were drafted

1: Vasilevski (1st rd pick #19 acquired in 3 way deal for Steve Downie and Kyle Quincey
2:Tyler Johnson (undrafted FA)
3:Alex Killorn-(3rd round drafted before Yzerman)
4:JT Brown (college FA)
5:Slater Koekkoek (1st rd pick drafted #10 overall)
6:Richard Panik (2nd rd 2009)
7:Mark Barberio (2008 rd 6-pre Yzerman)
8:Nikita Kucherov (2011 2nd rd)
9:Vlad Namesnikov (2011 1st rd #27)
10:Radko Gudas (2010 rd 3)

So out of the top 10 only 3 were 1st round picks. One was bottom 5 in the 1st (quite a tank job to get that pick), one was traded for using Steve Downie, and one was at #10. 2 2nd rounders, 1 3rd rounder, a college FA and 2 drafted before Yzerman.

To continue the rest of the top 20 NONE are 1st round picks. There are 7th rounders (Palat), free agents like the departed Conacher, but ZERO 1st rounders.

Lu's contract sucks, plain and simple. Comparing his bad contract to another bad contract doesn't decrease the suckage.

If he was being sarcastic? Well, IF you were smart...

Please explain how "Gillis single handidly destroyed any chance of trading him for anything of value."

- KB3Point0

Smart? You're kidding right? You live in a bubble with a water bong I'm guessing? If you can't figure out why then you're beyond help.

So let me get this staright you're implying that I'm gullible bcs of a ridiculous trade proposal that was said sarcastically on a Canucks thread? Go back and look at the "real" trade proposals on here and get back to me.

Cory Schneider is our starting goaltender in 2013. Ring a bell?

Oh Lord, it's like frickin' Groundhog Day around here.

It's not Luongo, Mr. Esplen.

It's the contract.

The contract.

You may want to play Lu's press conference from 20 minutes after the trade deadline if you have trouble grasping this simple concept.

You're a better man than I, if a fan of the team doesn't know why then he'll never figure it out. You could go on and on with the different ways he depreciated Luongo's trade value over the last two seasons which has made him just about untradeable which few on here want to accept.

They call me Captain Obvious

Here's another obvious for everyone...he's not getting traded regardless of the price. If I'm proven wrong then so be it but I have a hard time believing there is a GM stupid enough to pick up his contract.

The guy is a good goaltender and you're right his contract is terrible but I can see someone taking him but not for what these guys are thinking. Most likely someone will pick him up after he's brought out.

You stated that "Gillis single handidly destroyed any chance of trading him for anything of value." Are you saying he did this by signing him to the contract he signed him to?

You made the comment but have yet to explain why you feel Gillis should be fired.

Keep on keeping on there buddy. If I really need to explain how making a highly paid player a backup destroys value then I give up. Cptmjl you were right, what did I get myself into?

By making it known that he was available publicly. That the Canucks NEEDED to get rid of him ASAP. By creating a goalie controversy within your team. By publicly stating that the team was Schneiders not Luongo's. Pretty much telling the entire NHL that he had to get rid of Luongo. Signing him to that ridiculous contract to begin with. Dealing from a position of desperation is not the best vantage point. He should've taken whatever he was offered at the deadline and been done with it instead of expecting the return he was. How did the rest of the world understand his worth with that contract yet Gillis didn't? Now you'll get nothing for him. Book it. That to me is boardering on negligence. Every single person on the face of the Earth knew he'd be lucky to get anything at all besides Gillis himself and maybe you. Now you'll buy him out or take on an equally horrible contract just to be rid of the mess. You of course knew this all you just think you're being coy and funny. Whatever makes you happy? Can't wait for the buy out blog from Esplen!

To be fair, that was AV's decision. MG attempted to trade Lou but asked for too much (obviously).

He's buyout bound now.

You have to understand. You're a Tampa fan and I'm an Islander fan. We couldn't possibly keep up with his intellect. Once you understand that it will become clear for you.

It has NOTHING to do with signing him to that contract.

It has EVERYTHING to do with making him the BACKUP with that contract. Again, by saying Cory Schneider will be the starting goaltender in 2013 it destroyed any value Lu had b/c it basically announced to the NHL that Lu had to be traded. He couldn't use Schneider as leverage in trade negotiations b/c he is the "starter". And Lu had to be traded b/c no team, Vancouver or anyone else, can afford to have their backup making $5.3M.

Did I answer the question that time?
