Nope. Buyout or bust. Can't risk recapture on anything less than a sure thing.
- DrChristianTroy

Actually the recapture isn't bad for the Canucks because their worst years with Luongo, cash-wise, were before the lockout. The next team will get hit much harder.

Ian Esplen: What to do about Lu?
What to do about Lu?

- IanEsplen

I usually really like and respect your blogs, but this one's a little off base. I agree that if Gillis would of made a deal before the start of this season or even better, at the end of last season he would of received "fair" value for Luongo. He was shooting for the moon, and because of that, he's shot himself in the foot. With the cap going down, and Luongo's (self-proclaimed by the way) ridiculous contract, it's going to be tough to move him. NOT because he isn't a great goaltender, but for the other factors, those other goalies you've mentionned may appeal more GMs than Luongo; time will tell! I do put my money on Florida if anything though!

Another blog about why luongo is better than his free agent counterparts. Painful. This has been going on for a year.

But of course no mention of the abortion contract.

Is there anyone outside of esplen and a small amount of nuck fans that are still confused as to why lu's value is so low and thus so tough to move?

Dont need his stats. Dont bother with his accomplishments. You're wasting your time with comparisons....

9 years@5+ million is by far the most important statistic.

Trade Schneider and edler for picks and young players keep Lou and Ballard. It's the best option for stocking the cupboards.

Schnieder to nyi for niƱo and a first

This again? The other goalies are more attractive because most of them had better numbers than Lu last year and theyre not signed for the next decade!

Kadri, Gardnier and a 1st.

I think Lou goes to FLA or NYI

Lou for Matthias of Luo for Nino.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Lou was bought out. At this point I don't care. The Canucks are way over the 64 mil cap and Gillis has a ton of work to do this summer if he wants to keep his job. Either way Luongo is no longer a member of the Canucks.

- fiveandagame

Gilis was desperate to trade him. Offer at the deadline was Scirvens and a 2nd I believe. Even for that cheap offer Nonis said no. Good luck getting anything of value for your backup goalie.

You guys are crazy to think ANYONE is going to give anything of quality for Lu. Sure he is a great goalie, but EVERY GM and EVERY FAN outside of Van-City knows Gillis has no choice but to either buy him out or trade him for next to nothing...

Sorry, but Gillis screwed you on this deal. He should lose his job over it too...that and the other blunders he has pulled...

- BodyCheckRadio

Why should Gillis lose his job over this deal? It was a perfectly acceptable deal within the confines of the previous CBA. The NHL okayed it. Guess what, so did management. The only thing that makes Luongo's deal "suck" is that Schneider has become so good.

This blogger is really dumb. He still doesn't understand that's its the contract that people don't want? Sigh. Homerism at its finest.

Nope. That deal is terrible. Hence why Gilis was ready to give him up for anything. Scrivens and a 2nd at the deadline lol

So Gillis should lose his jobe because the owner asked him to sign Lu for 12 years?

That's true. But you have to think that Aquilini will push Gillis hard to find a trade first before considering that.
- Nucker101

Lou has a no trade. Why would he waive it? He can force a buyout.

Yet no one worries about 9 years at 6 million for Zetterberg

certainly seems like the easy solution.

I think they would take that route if they still could.
And im Not 100% sure, but i think the luongo staying ship may have sailed. Alot's happened, been said etc.

I think theyre cornered
