Good luck to all of you, this may sound strange but I have enjoyed this back and forth. Everyone knows where I stand but at the end of the day I don't really care. The Bolts aren't trading for Lu and that's all I need to know or for that matter care about. Beyond that whatever happens it is best for the Nucks if they move on from the controversy and spotlight that comes with having 2 #1's at the same time. It should have already happened but that is besides the point. Good luck |

Taking bad salary back in return is worse option than buying him out. I've already stated this numerous times. So, Tallon is unwilling to trade for Luongo unless Gillis takes one of his bad contracts back in return. What is your point here? - KB3Point0
You're being obtuse to make a point. It's transparent. Stop fooling yourself into thinking this is even a logical discussion/debate at this point. Obviously he's referring to taking on a salary of a lesser cap hit/size. |

A claim was made earlier that Gillis should be fired for the way he's handled the Luongo situation. I said he should not. The only evidence that has been provided to the contrary is either inaccurate or admittedly guesswork. Although I appreciate you basically agreeing with me! - KB3Point0
The funny thing about this was you actually think you may be right. This was fun. |

Well we already covered that. Multiple times. Completely defeats the point of trading him. You trade him to get rid of the cap hit, not to acquire a different cap hit that you don't need. |

I'm going to have to side with the Canuckleheads here - it was obvious to everyone following the 'nucks that Schnieder wasn't going to re-sign unless he got assurances that he was going to be appointed the #1 (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think his agent publicly stated that before negotiations began. Yes? No?).
The minute the new contract was signed, the writing was on the wall. - Atomic Wedgie
I'll disagree. I believe once you make anything public and ANNOUNCE it at a press conference you're pouring gas on an already crappy situation. You increase public pressure(which we all saw, no?). You increase the need to get rid of him. You become more desperate to allevaite the problem. Common sense to me. |

We're actually phasing out the number system for value meals. Was too confusing for senior's. Look for more major shake ups in the future. - hankthetank

Too many teams need to upgrade their goaltending. Someone will acquire him. - KB3Point0
Yes, after he's brought out. They'll do t without giving up anything. Get used to this notion. It's a shame because just as Michael ppointed out earlier and you avoided/deflected it you could've gotten something for him where as now chances you will get nothing. Sucks |

Time to give it a rest. Anyone who thinks the Canucks can't get some good pieces for Luongo is just blind by their hatred for the Canucks. I'm actually excited to see what Gillis gets for him now that teams know he's available. Plus it's a deep draft so the Canucks can pick up a couple gems. |

Loved him in Tampa. Wanted him on the Island when he was available. Was pissed when the Rangers got him but then watched him coach. I don't know whether he changed his game plan/style all together or it was because of the personal he had to work with? |

Yeah. Now that everyone knows. Been a secret for a long time now. Now that it's become public his value should sky rocket. |

It's either going to be quite good or it will end up like Wilson in TO. |

I would agree. Torts is the kind of guy that when your team is playing well you love him but when they're not you want to rip his freaking head off. Saw that with the Rangers. Should be interesting to see what he does with a much better offence in Vancouver? His play was so exhaustingly defensive it made the Devils in the 90's look exciting. Honestly the most boring hockey I've ever seen. I'm guessing he felt he had to do that with what he had to work with? |

I knew there was another reason - MG is notoriously slow at making decisions. The issue to date is that the rest of the teams didn't know he was on the market since last off season. |

MacLean: Luongo said no to Leafs
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...-luongo-said-no-to-leafs/ - hankthetank
This was last summer when Both fans and the organization thought his value was higher. And when he thought he had options.
At the deadline it was the leafs who said no to him for a bag of pucks basically.(scrivens+2nd)
Im sure lu regrets that earlier decision |

The only way we could have gotten anything would have been to eat some of his contract and keep some of his cap hit. Even then we wouldn't gotten anything of real value.
What could we have gotten by the way? |

IDK? There were some awesome trade proposals on here for the last couple months. A couple Canucks fans even presented them on our thread. Why don't you ask one of your fellow Canucks fans. You guys seem to be on the up and up more so than the rest of us idiots. It's funny that you guys are finally coming around to the idea you're going to get nothing for him but over the last year up until last week most of you were snubbing your nose at the idea of trading Nino straight up for Luongo? Now that reality has started to set in and you know the Luongo Buy Out blog is coming from Epslen you all were in the know all along |

This.
If there was any truth to the scrivens and 2nd rumour, i think it says alot.
No one's gonna let u just dump that salary with no money going back. Even if theyre only giving mediocre assets away.
The contract dump IS the value.
The nucks eat an anchor contract or sone of lu's cap hit and i believe theyll get a solid asset for this. After all, lu is still a top ten goalie
