The reason why Lu hasn't been traded yet is his value is too damn high. Nobody can put a package together that's large enough.

Really? Check on the Islander's thread for some beauties like Strome, Nino, DP for Luongo. Guess what fan of what team proposed that one? Well that must mean you're right then. I'll move along if I want too. You really don't have any control over that. Just because the debate you created isn't going your way and you've been proved wrong numerous times by numerous posters does not mean you suddenly have control over who can post or not. That's almost as ridiculous as thinking that Gillis did nothing wrong in this whole Luongo situation. - Cptmjl
You're right, someone posted a ridiculous trade proposal on an Islanders thread so all Canucks fans think we should get a huge return for Luongo. Yup, lots of sense there. |

Good question. I still think he's gone, but it's not as crystal clear as it was previously. I think he's just done with getting slagged in this city. The treatment of him by the fans here has been disgraceful. - KB3Point0
Please provide an example of fans mistreating Lu. Just one please.
Lu is treated like a god at GM Place/Roger's Arena. They gave Lu his own cheer that was once reserved for one of the city's favourite sports stars.
The organization gave Lu one of the richest contracts in team history. Made him the captain for christ sakes.
To be honest I think this 'poor Lu' talk is just BS. You should know better. Save that talk for the tards that post on TSN and call local sports talk radio. |

Not true. He makes his money off of real estate and one of the biggest computer software companys in the world. He loses money on the backs of the rest of the owners in the NHL. He's lost money since purchasing the team, Forbes has reported in excess of 30 million a year. How are the rest of the leagues owners helping Wang? If you're going to insult and be adolescent at least do it with something that is factual. Not that this discussion was about Snow, Wang, or the NY Islanders at all. It was about Gillis. Again, deflect/back peddle, now insult. - Cptmjl
Unfortunately the Islanders are such a poorly run organization they don't even qualify for revenue sharing. |

You are correct in that the Islanders were not eligible for revenue sharing, but I'm pretty sure that the formula has been re-jigged in the new CBA to at the very least open the door to giving the Isles some relief. |

They didn't qualify because they were too big a tv market. |

Totally disagree. Lu was put through the ringer by some fans, much like AV was. It was all over message boards and twitter etc.
They call it the goalie graveyard for a reason. |

Ya but they have lots of goodwill, so I gave them a slide. I want to see if there will be any change under a new coach, hopefully we can get a coach that can get more out of them. If not Sedins - slagged , check |

Gimme a break. The fans have treated Lu poorly ever since his wife was pregnant the first time. They've probably treated him better this past season than they have in years. |

Interesting take.
All of those things are true, and the contract he signed to play hockey shouldprobably be the conversation ender.
But when he first got to van, he was god. I recall sitting in a pub and lu got ran into and the entire bar was holding their collective breaths. Twas pretty funny.
But now, or at least for the past few years. He gets thrown under the bus with regularity. Your last pres trophy i attribute to him more than anybody else. But after 5 ridiculously strong games in a row, followed by an average 1, it's; "pull him. Put in schneider!. Lu is a choker etcetc"
Maybe it's mostly the moron fans (which we sll have alot of) but i dont think you csn argue too much that vancouver fans have used lu as a scapegoat a ton in the last few years.
Whether it comes with the job/contract is a different convo entirely |

Well that was the old system. We'll see if they qualify to get some of the other owners' money this year or if they were still too poorly run to get any. |

Who said Gillis did nothing wrong? I never said he's totally in the clear. I just said he hasn't done as much wrong as you claim and that he doesn't deserve to lose his job over the Luongo situation.
I have yet to be "proved wrong numerous times by numerous posters" in regards to this conversation.
You have yet to show how Gillis deserves to be fired other than guessing he got good offers a year ago, even though the whole reason he can't get traded now is his contract and he had the same contract last year... - KB3Point0
I actually said offers not "good offers". Doesn't any offer look like a good one now? That was the point which you side stepped and contradicted and now agree with. . Numerous reasons were posted by numerous posters all of which were valid and factual. Your position swayed with each post. Proved wrong. Easy. Change and misdirect. You must be the biggest Gillis fan in Vancouver? What's the point of discussing anything with someone who has facts presented to him and denies they exist? Hysterical. Having a discussion with you is like pissing in the wind. Not a good idea. Good luck. I'll be back for the Luongo buy out blog! |

I do believe had Gillis traded Schneider 2 seasons ago after the first Presidents Trophy, we probably aren't where we are today. Regardless of whether or not FA pushed for the deal that Lu eventually got, MG signed on the dotted line and therefore he should have recognized that having two #1 goalies especially in this market was going to cause major problems. We have excellent development of goalies in our system and having a cheap serviceable backups every year for another 3-4 years until it's time to replace him with an up-and-coming #1 would have worked far better. The assets we could have gotten for Schneider would likely have pushed us over the top, or at least alleviate some of the cap problems we have now. |

How? Because fans call into talk radio and complain? Because a few twits tweet about it? I've never witnessed anyone boo Lu at a home game. I've never seen or heard anyone ever criticizing Lu to his face in public. All fans wanted was Lu to play to his potential. When he didn’t he got flack from the vocal minority.
Fans have an emotional reaction to events but they do not have the power to hire or fire players. The only time I saw a fan base have an actual effect on a team’s personnel was in Toronto when RW was fired. The idea that Lu was abused in Vancouver is ridiculous.
It’s a goalie graveyard because of a long history of team mismanagement. It a franchise player graveyard as well. |
