Luongo is going to bring you a return of jack and squat.
Bernier is probably going to bring a nice return because he's demonstrated ability to play, he's young, and most important he's cheap. Scouts have done their job, obviously that's why the price is high.
Miller might bring a nice return because he's a very good goaltender and has shown his ability to carry a team, still has gas in the tank.. His cap hit is the only thing that'll hurt that.
Luongo is old, has a reputation for choking, and has a bad cap hit. Schneider has proven about as much as Bernier has, so maybe try dangling him instead if you want a return. Kings have said they're essentially running an auction for Bernier, that doesn't happen if people don't think he's going to be good. How many people are calling and asking about Luongo? Other than your GM who's begging for something to take him. |

I should say though ...I don't know how big the cap recapture even is for Van if he predictably retires at 39 or 40. Maybe the amount isn't that bad in the face of what the Cap limit may be by then??? Maybe it is worth it??? - The Law
They are already on the hook for 7.5 million, over however many years are left on his contract when he retires. It'll be up to 14.5 million eventually.
Did some quick numbers, rounded so not precise, just close. If Luongo retires at
39: 4 years of 3.6 cap hit if kept till then, 1.8 if traded now
40: 3 years of 4.8 cap hit if kept till then, 2.5 if traded now
41: 2 years of 7.25 cap hit if kept till then, 3.75 if traded now
42: 1 year of 14.5 cap hit if kept till then, 7.5 if traded now
43: nothing, contract completed.
With the cap going up each year, those numbers aren't staggering unless he retires at 42. But it's still a disadvantage they are putting themselves at down the road by doing anything other than buying him out. And the idea of them avoiding it by him taking up a roster space and being a 5.3 cap hit per year is just silly. |

I find it hard to believe that anybody is trading for Luongo.
I guess the only way is if another team sends an equally bad and long contract.
A buyout is pretty much the only option. If anyone gives up 2 seconds and takes his contract, they are just crazy. |

Jim Carrey and Steve Mason say "Hi"
Miller would throw his own mother "under the bus" if she didn't clear the dinner table to his liking! The guy is a total cancer in the dressing room.
You'd have to admit that Luongo has been a class act through this whole ordeal. |

No to Unicorns, yes to pots of gold at the end of a blog...I mean rainbow - IanEsplen
That's about the only thing you have blogged which makes any sense. We all know he's a great goalie, who can't win the big game. But why would a team trade for that terrible contract, why would teams give up their assets. Lu can block any trade so he's going to go where he wants to. Why not wait for the buyout, Vancouver can't keep him for another year! You save your assets, you get a better contract who could ask for anything more!
But you know all that, you just want to get to the end of your rainbow, I mean blog. In the mean time you keep Vancouver fans with visions of sugarplums, I mean max trade value dancing in their heads.
I for one enjoy the comedic value of your wacky trade proposals ( Lu = 1st, roster player and prospect. Elder = high 1st) classic! Keep them coming we love a good laugh.

Luongo will fetch a top 6 forward, a top prospect and a 1st rounder. Anything more and Canucks fans are dreaming. |

Did he really say Luongo is better than Miller and Bernier COMBINED?? He's not even better than Miller by himself and once Bernier is a full time starter, I'm pretty sure he'll put up better numbers than Lou did on a top team in the NHL |

How long have you been playing for the Sabres?? So funny when fans (forget the fact that he lives on the other side of the country), think they know what players are like in the dressing room. Jeff Carter and Mike Richards sure seemed to have disrupted the Kings chemistry and destroyed any chances the Kings have at winning the Cu..oh wait. Maybe Flyers fans actually DON'T know what happens in an NHL dressing room and only repeat rumours they hear from reporters who don't like a certain player? |

Are you really pulling the "my dad can beat up your dad" argument?
(frank) off....Miller sucks and Bernier has to play more than 5 minutes to prove anything.... |

Think miller was just getting sick of losing and they way they were losing ... Lot if last second goals going in because someone wasn't taking their man etc
He was the main reason why the sabres won or were even in a lot of games and if traded and got a new start I wouldn't be surprised to see him in vezina talks again |

I like Lu a lot but in a winner take all game with equivalent teams id take Miller over Lu. In the current NHL situation its not even close to who has more value. Its clearly miller. |

Team canada playing in front of LU had nothing to do with that victory. That was all LU. |

I dunno, that own goal by Fleury against the USA in the WJC final kinda backs my point |

I just find it shocking. when you try and give an unbiased analysis people think you are hating. True hockey fans arent just homers for everything Vancouver. They appreciate all the great hockey players doesnt matter what team they play for. Nothing worse than fandom. |
