I just hope the team stays patient if they draft a dman. Most of the best Dmen in the league went through growing pains on bad teams. I fear that if a guy like Pulock struggles like Larsson, the fan base and management will want to trade him too early. - PhillySportsGuy
Yup, a very real concern, which is why some are leaning toward taking a forward. |

What do you guys think huh huh? I have the 11th and Coburn going to Ducks for Ryan and Hiller with Ducks eating %20 of Hillers salary a season? Could work financially but dont know if it would happen. - flyerfan28
I hope those aren't your real lines Mcginn playing top 6 while Ryan plays 3rd line and Read 4th, with Laughton playing the wing?
11th + Coburn probably won't even get us Ryan, let alone Ryan and Hiller. I think Anaheim could get more from another team. |

1st off, there is no way I think you can count on McGinn to play on your 2nd line.
I'm not really that interested in Ryan, especially if the 11th pick is going in the deal, but if you did make that deal, I would go with:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Ryan-Schenn-Read
Talbot or McGinn-Couturier-Simmonds
Talbot, McGinn or Rosehill-Laughton-Rinaldo
Also, why would you have Gervais on your 3rd pair over Grossmann????

Also getting a pretty good goaltender coming back plus he only has one year left til UFA....Gives the Flyers a season to see if they can roll with Mason or Hiller long term. - flyerfan28
That trade scenario is fair. However, I wouldn't part with the 11th overall unless it was part of a bigger deal for a player we really needed. |

Fixed for you. Simmonds doesn't have the defensive ability over Read to play on a Couturier-Talbot line. Read is a better fit for a defensive line, and Simmonds for a scoring line. I also think Simmonds is more ambidextrous between LW and RW than Ryan is. |

Ethnicity implies that he is of Russian blood, I get it. But you tried to point out that Nichushkin isn't the best Russian in the draft because Barkov is ahead of him, when in fact Nichushkin is the best Russian in the draft, and Barkov is the best Finn. - JAKEw1234
Is Jeremy Lin heralded as a Asian/Taiwanese/Chinese NBA player, or is he simply referred to as an American because he was born, raised and played here?
(btw, all this over a minor technicality... aren't we bored) |

Quick off-topic question: What current NHL players do you think, right now, are Hall of Famers?
First ballot:
Jagr (esp. if he wins a 3rd Cup)
Brodeur
Selanne
Crosby
Datsyuk
Later:
Chara
Ovechkin (unless he wins a Cup)
Malkin
Iginla
Lundqvist (again, a Cup changes things)
Just misses:
Lecavalier
St. Louis
E. Staal
Zetterberg
Rciahrds/Carter
Weber (as much as I like him)
Alredsson
Thornton
Too early for guys like Toews, Tavares, Stamkos, Eberle, Hall, Giroux, Karlsson. - jmatchett383
Some visceral reaction to this list:
1.) Not so fast on Crosby. He has an injury history such that there exists a possibility that his career might be truncated or rendered less impressive somehow. But if he's healthy.....yeah, HOF'er, no doubt.
2.) Jagr doesn't need another Cup. He's in.
3.) Iggy will probably get in and Marty St. Louis, if you ask me, will absolutely be in the HOF.

Simmonds- Schenn-Ryan Better be taking only offensive zone face-offs. |

Well it isn't a defensive line that's for sure. It would be our grittiest and most physical line, though. |

I'd still rather make a reach and have a Nichushkin-Schenn-Simmonds line though. Too bad Tampa is taking him at #3. |

I think he already gets in. 3rd fastest to 500 points behind Gretzky and Lemieux.
Captain of a Cup winner
Tons of midget/junior awards (really, the list is incredible)
1 Art Ross
2 Ted Lindsay/Pearson
1 Rocket Richard Trophy
1 Gold/1 Silver from WJC
Olympic gold medal (OT winning goal scorer)
Tons of "youngest player to" records.
To me, he's already in. |
