3 teams are in the running for Jonathan Bernier. Kings are going to take the best offer from Maple Leafs, Flyers or Wild. #RDS - bradleyc4
Big advantage that the Leafs have over everybody else is that they have two promising young goalies to send back the other way... and Nonis isn't married to any of Burke's draft picks/signings. |

Bernier's not even an upgrade on Reimer. Confusing. |

I'd think they'd be more willing to move Scrivens, but yeah, it could be Rask for Raycroft all over again. |

I would have loved to see them have more faith in what they already had in-house in terms of centers... in hindsight, a short rebuild probably would have served them better than the immediate reload path they pursued.
Same thing this summer... I'd have been ecstatic if they had eschewed Streit in favor of giving the ball to Gus and letting him run with it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gus average more minutes at ES than Streit when the season is over. - Tomahawk
I go both ways on this debate. It's impossible to determine if Carter and Richards would have been able to take the reigns like they did without Briere. Those two didn't seem to enjoy being "the face of the franchise" when finally given the opportunity. |

I got one saying that I didn't win, but I can go and watch it from a tent in Newark. My living room will work just fine.

Crosby and malkin both put up 100 point season, dominate games, win MVP awards. They are the exception to the rule. Most TeAMA 2nd line center isn't close in pay or point production or at least expected point production. If g sign a 8/ 50 something mil contract and only puts up 7o points I'd be pissed and disappointed. Point being top line center has to be dominate. Always has always will. Yeah their are a few exceptions out their to point at but for the most part gotta be dominating games fairly consistently for team to succeed. - SMS4016
Crosby and Malkin are only one example. The bottom line is that you need more then one line in the NHL. And you need good players throughout. And Coaches don't decide who plays on what line, by the size of their salary. If you were expecting Briere to be a dominant player. Then I think the expectations are the problem. There aren't that many dominant players in the NHL. |

I'm hoping that the Kings using the Flyers as a smokescreen to get someone else to up the ante. |

When you say that, I picture the mall from Mallrats when they go see the topless Psychic. They call it the dirt mall. |

That's my biggest question on why the Leafs are pushing for Bernier. Reimer played well for them. |

It would be much easier to form an opinion either way, if there was some kind of consensus on how Bernier is going to turn out. But that's not reality. Goalies are a crapshoot.
