I respectfully disagree. Some of the quotes criticized the Flyers coaching and players. I think many of them would be happy to never see Bryz in their locker room again. Especially after these comments.
- PhillySportsGuy

I didn't see one quote that criticized Flyers players. And all Winter did was compare how they play in Phoenix, to how they play in Philly. He didn't criticize anyone. And look back at all the deflections off of Flyers that have wound up in their own net.

so exit interviews play no role, right? both sarah baicker and macnow hear that G can't stand bryz.
- isaiah520

Doubt it. And who cares if Giroux can't stand him. Be professional and play. And those are two sources I wouldn't trust.

Here's a beauty from (frank) Seravalli today

"It's OK, guys," Bryzgalov said, according to a teammate, speaking on a condition of anonymity. "I will get bought out. I will get paid for this deal and I will get paid double to play for a new team somewhere else."

Read more at http://www.philly.com/phi....html#MSRqhc6ThAZJfuVD.99

The fact that this guy has a job is a disgrace. I believe that line is a complete fabrication by (frank). Either name the "player" who said it, or don't use it

- KINGKENZO

If you read the article his agent basically said the same exact thing in reference to being bought out and still getting paid. I would have liked to seen sources too but its obvious Bryz wants out and the Flyers will give him wish.

Mason could be more inconsistent than bryzgalov???

How?

Lets see mason small one year deal inconsistent
Bryzgalov 7 more years huge contract

The difference is???
If mason faltered there are other stopgap veterans you could acquire if needed
Anyone backing bryzgalov at this point should sign to be his co agent, or haven't been paying attention, he's being payed like a miller, lundqvist etc, he's not playing like them.

- puckhead17

agree WAY more options available than the last two years. the time to make this change would be now. who knows what is available next year.

How could Mason be more inconsistent? Look at Mason's last 3 Seasons. I alluded to the financial and long term impact and contract issues in the post you quoted.

IMHO I believe Mason will give the Flyers similar play to what Bryz gave them last year at the very least. It's not like Bryz was spectacular. He was solid. I believe Mason can be solid or they can at least bring in a FA who can be solid. It's not even the money at this point. It's Bryz.
- PhillySportsGuy

I beleive Mason can be also. Which is why if they move on from Bryzgalov. I'd like to see them give Mason a shot, with a short term veteran backup. Rather then giving up other assets to acquire another player.

bryz. was inconsistent at best. Plus he always has something stupid to say. in addition he gets paid like a top line goalie, which he really has not shown on the ice except in small flashes. Blaming the defense for blocking shots? he should be thanking them. Those deflections that wind up in your own net happen to everybody.

And the thing is, the quotes, this one hates him, that one hates him, the houses smell, the welfare comments, etc, if all this were happening and he was carrying the team on his back fine!
But he's making elite $$$$ and he's has not played that way, I don't see him getting any better in the years ahead, and with the defense requiring reshaping, Giroux's contract etc, let this guy go please.

We are on the same page. Others want to bring meaningless issues into and fall into the trap of the drama. Reminds me of an Elton John song. I've seen that movie too.
- MJL

The shame of it is that most people rely on getting their info about the team from the local guys that cover the team. We have people that are unqualified to do so, thus creating an uninformed fan base.

I agree. And is an earlier post I stated that Winter was wrong about that. I want the Flyers blocking shots. The results have not been there.

Bill,

Off topic from Meszaros but on topic when talking about the defense. I noticed last game that Nick Leddy only had 2:37 of ice time in an OT game no less. In the past months there's been reports that he and his agent are far apart from Chicago management on an extension. John Jaeckel wrote in his blog today that's still the case and has heard trade rumors pop up as well as Leddy's agent supposedly hoping for an offer sheet. If he was to become available after the Cup ends, would you be interested in him for the Flyers?

When an article deals with 90% high school drama, and 10% hockey. That tells you all you need to know about it. Seravalli should be ashamed of himself. It's embarrassing. There is far and away enough legitimate Hockey reasons to make a valid argument for moving on from Bryzgalov. Without all the other nonsense.

I'm aware of his last 3 seasons AFTER he won rookie of the year, our goalie coach likes him he likes it here, we'll never know what he could possibly do as the team doesn't trust giving him a shot, I'd rather try his inconsistency with a one year deal, then the other guy for 7.
I still would want a guy like Nabokov or Theodore as a backup in case he falters, those are the type of guys that wouldn't kill your budget, yet they would possibly accept their roles and and be again, no worse than the $56 million man

you're downright obtuse on this subject. as the smoke increasingly gathers to reveal a fire, you still have blinders on. it is the locker room stuff that's prob driving this...but you don't want to see it.

That's the situation for every player that gets CBO'ed and resigns with a different team. He's stating the obvious. My problem is (frank) attributed an insanely inflamitory quote directly from Bryz with proof.

Do you remember the 24/7 thing when they were eating and bryzgalov tried sitting with Jägr and Jägr told him to take a hike?
Not that it matters that much, there you go, that and he's inconsistent and makes too much $$$ etc

I agree completely. I'm hoping for someone similar to Vokoun. I would be happy for the Flyers to wait (Very unflyer like) and go bargain shopping or seek a trade for a veteran who has fallen out of favor.

i think the bryz's/ agent's actions/interviews reveal a thinly veiled attempt to talk his way out of town. we don't even need weekly reader reporting to see that...

I don't make comments about you personally. I discuss the subject. Here's the bottom line. If Bryzgalov had a .925 SV% and a 2.20 GAA, and was in the top 5 in Vezina voting. The Flyers brass wouldn't give a rats ass who on the team doesn't like him. Or what asinine comments he makes to the media. That right there sums it up. It's about the contract, and whether his play warrants moving forward. And that is all it is about. It's like dejavu!
