I'd have no issue adding Bernier for the right price. If Bryz goes, they will have to add a goalie, and if Mason can't handle a challenger for the starting job, I'm going to question his ability to win a Stanley Cup, too.

That said, I would not pay a premium for Bernier. He's played 62 NHL games. When Mason was at 62 games, he was being called Canada's Olympic goalie in 2014. Now, he's a reclamation project the Flyers got for a song. Bernier could turn into the next Quick or Rask...he could also be the next Dominic Roussel.

That's my whole problem with forming an opinion on trading For Bernier.

What a jerk this guy turned out to be. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I've just boarded the "amnesty bryzgalov" bandwagon.
- edmac812

can we amnesty Homer? please show the door to the always injured Mezzy and Gross and Homer should be fired for Bryz alone

If Read's in the deal, I'd want it to be a larger deal. Add pieces from either side. If they trade Read+ for him, it's an overpayment.

I appreciate your emotions, but CBO is a business decision and needs to be made rationally.

It's strange why the Leafs are in on that, I thought the Devils would be the main competition in acquiring him.

Edit. Feels like the (mini version) Lindros sweepstakes again

Bernier to the Leafs makes no sense to me, but Minnesota does.

Not sure about that, but I always worry when my team has too many question marks heading into a season. Obviously were far from the season, but this team has too many ?s. The one thing I would love to see them add is Adam Hall or a player similar to him. Giroux took more defensive zone faceoffs than any player. He needs more time in the offensive zone. Is there any coincidence that Giroux scored more after the team acquired Hall?

This kind of seemed funny to me, the (again just rumored) Coburn and the 11th pick to Anaheim for Ryan seemed like overpayment to me, (Coburn is a top 4 defenseman), but Anaheim fans are crying Coburn and the 11th wouldn't be enough, just funny when you look at the perspectives involved.

I don;t think Coburn and the 11th is necessarily an overpayment, but it is a deal that doesn't make a ton of sense for the Flyers end of it.

Only an overpayment unless Anaheim sends an extra piece back, a lot of people are down on Coburn, but I think he's still a solid player with value.

I don't want to trade Coburn. Especially after a down year. The team has way too many question marks on defense. I'd rather them keep Coburn unless a Dman is coming back. Ryan is a luxury for this team. If he was from Alberta, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

What about this trade proposal:

Ryan, Sbisa, 2nd rounder
for
Coburn, Read, 11th overall

I'll put it as plainly as I can. The only thing that matters is his play on the ice. And whether it warrants moving forward, and dealing with the long term risk and Cap recapture issues. The rest is childish nonsense. The overwhelming majority of it is from pure speculation and anonymous sources. I choose to deal in the facts and evaluate based on that.
- MJL

the exit interviews and other off ice stuff factor in whether you like it or not. obviously, performance comes first in priority, but issues here also leave a playr in a position of more vulnerability to other considerations. the final nail in the coffin are the contract/cap issues. they are all weighted and deliberated upon in the real world.

Yes, and Schenn with Kimmo

But I see another guy, maybe top 4 coming in instead, it really seems like they are shopping

Kinda sucks for him. He came here hoping to regain the promise he showed in Ottowa. He languished in Tampa a bit and coming to Philly rejuvenated his career to a degree. I remember how excited most of us were when we picked him up. These injuries have been very unfortunate. While it is a huge gamble to keep him instead of Coburn, I could see that happening based on Coburn's greater value at this juncture. Clearly, if Andres is healthy, and can continue to be healthy he is welcome on the line up. The Flyers trainers and management are best likely to know the prospects of his health and ability to return to form. But these decisions need to be made now or within the next week. If they believe his health will be fine and we can get value for Cobie (and he waives his no trade), then I will trust Homer to make the right decision.

they need as many ELCs as they can get in the top 6 spots and considering the possibility of losing read and the positive outcome of their 1st rnd drafts, that equation would work against a move like this.

I agree with you on Adam Hall, he was and is a very good role player, was very effective here in the short stretch, especially that they are not bringing back Fed's I thought they would give him a 1 year.
- puckhead17

@ 650k, he'd be easy to move if he gets beaten out by a guy like holmstrom

I know many feel Mez will be traded, but we haven't even discussed the fact that he may not pass a physical.
