They had a 105 pt season, an Eastern Conference crown, and came within 1 win of the Finals the year before they ended the Lindros circus for good. - Tomahawk
Lindros is a rare case of a lot of issues, including a spiteful relationship between the GM and the parents of a player due to them interfering. I hardly think that situation correlates to the Bryzgalov situation.

No it doesn't obliterate my argument. I don't know the factual information behind it. But a simple google search suggests that Cechmanek requested a trade. And the Flyers accommodated him. A player requesting a trade, is a clear case of the player wanting out. Versus weak interpretation of statements with a bias behind it. |

I'm tired of the Bryz show, time to turn the page, move on, whatever...is Mason the next hero? who knows, can't be much worse than bryz and the albatross of a cap hit that the flyers signed him to.
Quickly grab another bandaid goalie for next year that doesn't cost you too much and work from there. We spend top dollars we have goalie issues, we spend average dollars we have goalie issues. At least with the latter the flyers can afford to overspend on players in front of that goalie.

Sometimes its better to move on. He hasn't done enough to warrant the contract. Clear his cap space and fill some needs. |

And Bryzgalov is a typical case? |

Yes it is. A typical case of a Free Agent who was signed to a long term deal, that is not living up to the deal. And the results haven't been there. For a variety of reasons. A fairly common occurrence in the NHL.

Ironically, Rich Winters also represents Meszaros and Coburn, the other two guys who are on the hot seat this summer.
(Manning and Walker, too) - Tomahawk
that's completely irrelevant...apparently |

I'm tired of the "will he, won't he" be bought out talk. Who are the likely to become UFAs? I wanna play that game. |

I don't view it as a negative at all, if anything having that in his corner could very well help him have a better & even more prepared mindset on how & what to be as a pro athlete.
That being said does he fall to #11, I'd lean towards no. - ob18
wouldn't want him to adopt mcnabb's victim mentality. would love if he had a career arc that was as successful, though. |

I think that was more media driven than it was McNabb himself. But he is a solid player at least in the junior ranks. How he grows is like any prospect is guessing game. |

Morrow and Jagr are my two main targets.
After that who knows. I wanted Torres but the Sharks decided to keep him around. |

I would take Nurse if we can get him. If he can be the next Coburn, it makes it easier to walk away from Coburn when the time is right. |

I hope the Flyers decide to go younger.
Like Jagr (but he will be expensive). Morrow is a cooked player imo. |

I'm talking pending buyouts. Although I am holding out hope for Gagne and Iginla. |

Best thing to do is sit at #11 a very solid prospect will be available. I am 100% against moving up in the draft the cost is going be far too much than the Flyers can afford. |

I agree. Zero interest in Jagr or Morrow. Flyers need to add a player that is going to be part of the future if they're going to add a forward in my opinion.

Just lots of speculation there. I heard talk that the Hawks might buyout Hossa if they win the Cup. I don't think anyone really knows for sure.

There is nobody younger that interests me really though. A guy like Horton maybe, but the price will be too high, for a mid level player. Flyers have enough of that.
This crew imo needs that real veteran leadership to teach them the right way to play, as well as approaching the game off-ice. Qualities that players like Jagr and Morrow will bring, and are too often undervalued imo.
They wont be here long term, but this team also isn't anywhere close to winning jack poop. For me, its about grooming the young kids, in the best and most supportive environment. |

Exactly. I wouldn't be opposed to Cousins playing if he can show he's ready. Don't want anymore high priced veterans on the UFA market. |

Hossa at this stage of his career would be a nice signing here in philly. |

Both of those players will look for a bigger role. The Flyers have younger players who need to step into those roles to grow. They have plenty of leadership imo. Its time to be smart when adding players, not just high priced vets. Morrow is done. Jagr is going to be expensive and he shouldn't be on our top two lines at this point. |

And the Flyers have enough veteran leadership. Part of how you groom a team for the future, is to let players grow into leadership roles. And let them make the mistakes , and get it out of the way. That's how players become leaders down the road.

Cousins will need time in the AHL, I'd say don't count on him for at least the first half of the season. |

As we're getting close to the draft, any scuttle butt on whose draft stock is rising and falling? For example, it seems Nichkushin is all over the board if he will go top 5 or drop. |
