It'll probably depend on what results from the Bernier trade.. Unless someone else throws a lot of money at Scuderi, or LA doesn't offer him a contract, he'll probably stay. Lombardi is going to wait to see what he gets from the Bernier trade so he knows what he's got to work with, and probably wait till the last minute so he has a better idea of what's going to happen with Willie Mitchell... That's the wrench in everything.

I could see a deal w/PITT for Letang, if PITT would like Ryan. The bidding war will drive up the price, but I could see something crazy like (assuming Letang is signed):

Letang <-> Ryan + 1st + Beauchemin + conditional 1st in 2015 if Ryan isn't extended.

Other then being a terrible deal, the max contract for a free agent is 7 years. 8 years if you are resigning. I could see some team be desperate similar to my sabres (leino) and give bickell 5 years 20 mil range.

The reason Bickell is succeeding is because the NHL has become lenient with his style of play. If they keep policing the game like it has been, then Bickell is here to stay; and succeed.

Exactly. It's so hard to compare players in the NHL because there are so factors that can change how a player performs, and in turn their value. (ie. systems, role, deployment, chemistry, contract).

Well, if the rumors on the net are even close to true, the return I am describing is what you'll see if Letang is dealt...he's one of the top 3 D-men in terms of offense/PP, and while prone to gaffs here and there is an average D-man overall. Importantly, he's just entering his prime. A LOT of teams need that exact D, and I would include ANA among them - Fowler is you PP guy now, and he's nowhere (and probably never will be) on Letang's level. Having a guy like Letang can totally change the dynamic of the team...if it's not ANA, other rumors I've heard (from sports people, not hockeybuzz people) include (assuming a SIGNED Letang):

EDM: Eberle+ or 7th overall++
COL: 1st overall
VAN: 1st + Edler + Kassian + prospect
CGY: 6 + 22 + Giordano
DAL: Eriksson + Dillon + prospect or 2nd round pick (for Letang+prospect)
CLB: J Johnson + 14th + 19th
STL: Stewart + Shattenkirk

Point is, in a market where the demand in insanely high for puck moving d-men (Gonchar got 5mil!, Streit got 5+!), the return will be substantial...whether or not the player skill levels match up in the return. It's simple "economics" (in the sense of commodities, not $$)...
