Ottawa will be tougher next year, once healthy. Montreal is a wildcard. It only takes a surge by one of these teams to keep us out of the playoffs. Boston and Detroit are locks, so it comes down to either knocking out Montreal or Ottawa, out of the playoffs. - PrinceLH
Or finish 5th and knock someone out of the other division out.... |

I think this will make the team better. IMO Bernier is a better goalie than Reimer needs a chance to start to really show how good he can be. I just don't think Reimer has all the right tools he good but I think bernier can be great. It's not as though he stuck be hide some middle the road goalie he's stuck behind and all star and conn smythe winner in Quick. Bernier was the kings future it's just turned out Quick was way better than anyone thought and got the step on bernier. - Yeti1181
You think he's a better goalie why??? Reimer has played as a #1, has better stats, led his team to the playoffs. reimer arguably played on a worse team the last few years, but has more wins/games played. If Bernier was surefire better he's have better stats (playing on a better team) than reimer, but he doesn't.

Reimer = Bernier is my guess.
So why give up assets for him. Is the goal to upgrade Scrivens? |

He doesn't play regularly so I think that would have an effect on him doesn't get many games in due to quick playing so much. Reimer was annotited no 1 because we dont have anyone. Hell the start of the season people were thinking Scrivens was going to take over. I think he's GOING to be better I'm basing this on looking back at his track record through junior and the Ahl. When he plays consistently he puts up extremely good numbers no reason to think he won't continue that trend. |

I don't?? How so???
Bernier and reimer same age
Reimer's numbers> bernier (on a better team)
Reimer is signed to a nice deal, Bernier is unsigned (don't know what he wants or if it's realistic)
Reimer has played as a number1 and led his team to the playoffs.
and to top it off we give up assets that we need going forward, to have him sit on the bench. Yeah, I got a good grasp on it. |

Bernier's numbers look a lot like reimer's AHL number. Reimer actually won more games/start. |

What part doesn't make the case the more games he plays the better he is so playing very little he still putting up similar numbers the more he plays the better he gets. |

The Leafs aren't nearly as good a team as the Kings so it's hard to compare via stats alone.
Fact is, Quick has clearly been the number 1, Bernier may be very good but he is not a proven #1.
So it depends who we have to give up to get him. Nobody from the A list but a guy like Ashton or D'amigo plus 3rd rounder would be reasonable.
If we give up a Gardiner or Rielly or our first rounder there will be a Nonis revolt |

Reimer has had quite a few injuries in his short NHL career. If we can get an upgrade over Scrivens at a reasonable price then it's worth doing.
If not I think Scrivens is adequate. |

Kings were only two points better than us this year can't say they are leaps and bounds better than us, but I understand where your going. I'm not saying we should give huge amount for him I just think he will take over reimer as no 1 and Nonis must share they same view if they are looking to upgrade, let face he's not looking to solidify our back up position. |

Points in a short season can be deceiving. I think the Kings are a much better team than the Leafs. They are one year removed from winning the Cup and with some luck could have beaten Chicago and been in the finals again.
But Scrivens was 7-9 on a team that was well over .500 so if we can upgrade at a reasonable cost I am all for it. |

Um exactly.... so we trade for him and he doesn't play a a #1, and doesn't end up doing what you expect. Awesome.....
Or we do the deal and bernier ends up #1, put up reimer #s and reimer (because of alcl of playing time, re Bernier) regresses. Awesome.
Can't wait. |
